After reading through the recent post about insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs for pregnancy and birth, I reviewed our insurance coverage handbook, and it looks like we'll be covered 100% after paying $20/visit co-pay and $200 admission fee for delivery. Although it seems that some doctors/insurance only charge a one-time copay at the first doctor's visit, it seems that our insurance charges a co-pay for each visit. So, I am wondering, how many visits are there total? I generally understand that there are few in the beginning and middle, and then more frequent appointments required near the end... but how many total?

I had appointments every 4 weeks until 26 weeks when I started every 2 week appointments. At 36 weeks, I start going once a week. That's somewhat normal from what I've heard.

I think I went to see my OB at least 10 times.
I didn't have to pay my OB any copays and my hospital copay was $500. -
I have no idea. But just keep in mind that there might be some unplanned visits, just in case something goes wrong. I know I had 3 extra visits before my first trimester was even over because I had some bleeding with LO.

Ummm. First visit at 8 weeks. Every 4 weeks until about 32 weeks. Then every 2 weeks until 38 weeks, then every week. So about 12 visits for me.
I didn't have any health issues though and it does vary from OB to OB.

I was at the same schedule as @mediagirl:
My copays were also higher for sonograms. There's also routine blood work too.
Your lucky that's all you have to pay!!

I had my first appt at 6w2d, I will have on OB appt for the first seven months, (so 6 appts total including my first). Then, bi-monthly appts for months 8-10 (6 more)

Appts didn't start til 10 weekd, then It was every 4 weeks til 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks til week 36, then every week. So total I had 10 appts I think.

I was told something similar to what others posted. I had my first nurse appt at 6 weeks then my first dr appt at 8. I'll have one visit every 4 weeks until 28-30 weeks (it'll be 28 or 29 for me). Then I'll have one every 2 weeks until 36 weeks. Then weekly until birth. So that makes it about 14(?) visits if I give birth at 40 weeks.
