I bought a Marc Jacobs crossbody so I could be stylish and have my hands free when dealing with the LO. It has served the purpose very nicely!

I retired all of my bags and use my Kate Spade diaper messenger! I love it!

@Mrsbells: for me it is convenience so like the messenger style keeps my hands free.

My diaper bag is my handbag. It's the 31 utility tote. Has a lot of pockets on the side so it's easy to find things.

I need another crossbody, but one that's not too big, I can't seem to find one that isn't black, because I don't wear black anymore.

@looch: Have you tried Marc Jacobs? I have one in every day black as well as another in purple. I believe there are other colors, too.

@Andrea: I tried online, but I don't know what I am looking for, is there a name or model number to the bag that you've got?

@looch: wow, they have some bright colors now...for spring i guess!

@Andrea: awesome, thanks for the link! I liked the Percy too, but the Natasha looks more substantial. The MJ website has Natasha in green and black too, so I'll have to think about it...I'd love to get the red!

@looch: yes, the percy is cuter because it's small but to hold a lot more things i went with the natasha!

Ooh please keep posting-- I have been DYING for a comfortable "mom" bag and have no idea what to get! It needs to be stylish enough since I'm taking it to work every day. I was using my brown Longchamp daily but it's not comfortable on my shoulder-- I have really small, sloping shoulders so the straps keep sliding off and the bag ends up in the crook of my elbow.
I also can't wear crossbody because my boobs are too big and splitting them down the middle with a bag strap looks seriously bizzare and is uncomfortable.

There is a botique in SoHo that I stumbled upon that I think makes great bags. The ones I like are leather on the front and waterproof fabric on the back so they are cute but don't weigh as much as a full leather bag. I have back trouble so weight is always something I look for plus I have the shoulder issue as well. They also have a pocket on the front the perfect size for my IPhone.
Here is a link to their website: http://www.highwaybuzz.com/store.html

@andrea: How roomy is the Marc Jacobs crossbody? I like the way it looks but I'm afraid it'll be too small for me. I'm a pack rat when it comes to purses.

@banana: you can tell me what you keep in your purse and i'll let you know if i think it will all fit?

I haven't used it yet, but I had a PBB clutch that I can tell is going to be my go to bag over the spring/summer months. It's surprisingly larger than I thought and will easily hold a cloth diaper or two.

@andrea: Ok! Let's see. I have my wallet (kinda big), a small notebook, some snacks for LO, water bottle, small makeup purse (holds a few lipglosses, compact, and mirror), iphone, blackberry, sunglasses, checkbook, and a few bills I have to pay. Do you think that would fit? =\
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@banana: i think just about - not unless your wallet is really huge. i use the "french purse" LV wallet so it's not very big. i have all those things in my bag except for a notebook and snacks but i do still have lots of room left.

You guys carry a lot of stuff!
I've got a teeny tiny pouch for a wallet, keys, sunglasses and my phone, a random chapstick and my train passes. Those bags might be too huge, but then, I've also got to account for DS's sippy and snacks....
Another question is...can you easily run around on the playground with it?

@andrea: Do you carry the MJ bag and a separate diaper bag wiht you? I was hoping I could eliminate the diaper bag and just use the MJ bag. That would awesome.
@looch: Yeah, I carry around a lot of junk. I'm always in that "You never know" phase and end up carrying way too much. The bigger the bag, the more junk I fill it up with.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@banana: i do carry a separate diaper bag if we're going to be out for a while. the MJ bag can't fit diapers, wipes, straw cups, etc. too. maybe you can check out chopsuey's kate spade bag?
@looch: sounds like MJ bag could work for you. definitely easy to run around the playground with. the bag itself is very lightweight so even when you load it up with stuff i have never found it to be heavy.

@andrea: thanks for the info! I think I"m gonna buy one too. Just have to decide on the color. THANKS!!!

@banana: haha. awesome. now i am feeling like MJ needs to give me commission.
coconut / 8299 posts
@andrea: LOL. Seriously! You just gave them 2 sales. Oh, what color do you have? Do you like that color?
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@banana: i have black and purple. my purple one is a slightly different MJ design - i don't remember the name of it. i have been using the black one more. it's so versatile. it looks fine when you dress casual or dress up a bit more. so i even wear it out to dinner as well as go to the gym with it!
