After the thread about typical wedding gifts, I feel like either this is a very generous bunch, or you are in very well-to-do circles!
Most our wedding gifts were in the $50-$100 range - both cash and actual gifts. We had probably 10 gifts in the $100-$200 range from close friends/family. My MOH and her husband gave us I think $500 cash, which we thought was extremely generous.

Hm, I think Dh's brother gave us either 2k or 5k...I don't actually remember! The next biggest was from DH's boss, who gave us $1800.

my parents paid for 1/2 the wedding, my in-laws gave us $1000 toward honeymoon and $1000 cash. they also paid for rehearsal dinner.

My parents did not pay for our wedding but gave us a gift of $5000. My Grandpa gave us $3000 and my Uncle gave us $2500.

A good friend of my husbands, J who lived upstairs from me in college introduced me and my husband. We asked him to be a groomsman and he flew in from LA for the wedding. Turns out he's a trust fund baby and his dad is higher up and a very big banking company. We had told our bridal party no gifts, esp J since he had to travel and get hotel rooms etc. The night of the wedding we popped into his room before heading to ours and he insisted on writing us a 1k check and would let us leave without it. We held on to the check for like 9 months thinking it was a joke. finally he called and was like "cash the F--ing check but it in your kids college fund and name him J after me. " We were quite taken back by his generosity.

We got a $600 bed beth & beyond gift card for our dishes from DH's dad and $500 cash from my parents. We had about 8 $150 checks from family but most gifts were $20 to $100. My parents also gave us $15,000 cash to pay for the wedding and DH's dad gave us $1,000 cash. We were told we could keep the money for something else if we didn't want a big wedding. Sadly, we spent most of it.

My parents gave us a specific amount of money toward our wedding, and said anything we didn't use was ours as a gift.
We came under budget, and they kept their word. We were given a very generous cash gift.

My parents gave us a very large amount of money and said spend what you want on the wedding, keep the rest. We used half of it, and the other house helped us buy our house.

Our parents gave us a chunk of money towards the wedding. They also gave us a cheque for $7000 on the wedding day. That was the gift we received.

My parents paid for the wedding and also gave us all of our china and a cash gift....the china and cash gift were in excess of $2,000.
In terms of wedding guests, my MIL's financial planner gifted us $600 cash. That was a huge gift!

We got one huge cash gift of $1000 from a relative, but for the most part our gifts were like yours. Mainly $50-100, with maybe 10 gifts that were over $150 or so.

We got a VERY generous gift from my husband's grandmother and family in Taiwan of 30k. My husband tells me it's tradition there to give large sums of money as wedding gifts. It's sitting in our savings and it's really helped us build our savings account.

My DH's parents bought our tickets for our honeymoon and paid our all-inclusive fee for our resort, about $4,000 together.

We got some generous cash gifts. My relatives in Taiwan pooled their funds and gave us $7K. And then our best man gave us $1K. My cousin and his wife also gave us $1K and we were SO shocked... and even more shocked when the check bounced!! Hahaha... of course we were too polite to reach out to them and mention anything, and we thought maybe they would notice on their end. Nope, never heard anything, haha!
The funny part is, we thought it was the $1K check from our best man that bounced, so we sheepishly asked him about it, and he said it cleared from his bank. It was then when we realized it was my cousins (who are in their 40s, so not "young" cousins or anything).

We got $1,000 from each of our parents, and my parents paid for our wedding. The next most generous gift was $500 from one of DH's groomsmen. Most of the gifts from our close friends and aunts/uncles were around $100, but the rest were mostly around $25 - $50.

We don't have registries here... people bring cash gifts.
The biggest amount we got was from my dad and step mom. 5k.
Then my mom 1k + my wedding dress and on average we would get 200$ - 250$ per couple.

Biggest monetary gift was that my MIL surprised us and ended up paying for our honeymoon, which was just under $10k.
We paid for our wedding entirely ourselves.

Oh man, I hope that you all didn't vote taking your family paying for the wedding or wedding related expenses into consideration! I meant gifts from guests. Sorry I didn't clarify that. My parents paid for our wedding in entirety, and DH's parents paid for our honeymoon.
Still, a lot of you got some VERY generous gifts! That's so amazing of your friends and family to help you get started like that. In total, I think we had about $5K in cash, and we spent almost all of it on our honeymoon. I really wish we had saved it!

My dad gave us $7500 for the wedding and my in laws covered most of the rest of it (probably $15K+)
The largest gift we received from a guest was $756 from DHs aunt and uncle. Sounds like a random number but the number 18 is significant in Judaism (7+5+6)

My grandma got us 6 place settings AND the day after lunch, but she pretty much wanted to give us the universe. Our next most expensive gift was a coffee machine I though not one could afford ($200+)
On average gifts were 15-50 for our generation and 50-100 from older generations. 
It was pretty impressive--we were surprised with how many gifts we got!

One of DH's parents friends gave us a $200 gift certificate for a B&B. And a couple people gave us $200 cash. Most were between $50-$100 though.

My parents contributed about 5K and my sister/BIL took care of the rehearsal dinner. My grandmother insisted on paying for half of my wedding dress. DH and I covered the rest of the wedding and the honeymoon.
We also had an $800 check from the rich aunt and uncle, haha.
Ultimately, I think biggest gifts people gave to us were their time and willingness to work on projects! We had so much help from family and friends!

Each of our parents gave us $8 - $10k for wedding costs. MIL gave us $3k as her gift to us. One of my aunts gave us $1k. One of my dad's friends (who we don't know very well) gifted us $500.

Aside from my parents paying for most of the wedding, we got a few over $1k gifts. The biggest gift overall came from FIL a sizeable downpayment for a house we have yet to buy,
