Peace of mind. When LO woke up, we took her across the hall to her room to feed her and change her diaper so the other person could get some sleep. So it wasn't convenience at all.

@artbee: haha we did that too! mostly so that I could slowly wake up and prepare for feeding while Wagon Sr. changed him.
We had him in our room mostly for peace of mind, so that we could be right there when he woke up and so that we could check on him whenever we wanted. I didn't like the idea of a newborn being even just across the hall. Also it was convenient because sometimes he'd wake up grunting, and I could turn on the sound machine and kind of kick the pack n play with my foot while still dozing and he'd fall back asleep for another 15 mins! haha.
Eventually when we felt like we could move him to the nursery around 2-3 weeks, my mom freaked out. So we moved him the NIGHT my mom left at 4 weeks!

Convenience. My husband would change him, I would feed him, and we could help each other rather than wandering to the other side of the house and me being on my own. Also, my son slept longer when with us in the beginning.

for us, it was peace of mind. The first few days (weeks) I would wake up CONSTANTLY to poke at her to make sure she was still breathing. I was super anxious, so for her to be right next to me in the bassinet was vital. Around 3-4 weeks, we moved her to her crib, but we slept in the queen sized bed in her room for another month before we transitioned to our own room. And we have the AngelCare Monitor (and a video monitor) so I rested a little easier

Peace of mind, desire to have her close, ...And we didn't have a crib mattress yet. LOL.

Convenience and peace of mind! It was great to have her right next to me in the bassinet when she was nursing every two hours, and also because I wanted to check on her all the time. Now she's 4 months and in her crib in her own room. She's nursing less during the night and I've cut down on my "still breathing?" checks to just a few times a night.

Because people told me I was supposed to. We only lasted a week though. The LO made too much noise so we changed that situation quickly!!

Convenience. Mom was staying in LO's room, DH was sleeping in the downstairs room because he had to work and needs his sleep.

We're doing it for peace of mind and convenience. Although, it won't be too convenient when I get up, feed her, then have to go into the loft to pump so I don't disturb the bear.
