DS is just about 3 months old, and I was told I was spoiling him because I picked him up when he was crying (he had just been fed and changed, so he just wanted to be cuddled).
Everything I've read says it's impossible to spoil a young baby, but at what age can you start spoiling your baby?

I don't know...i;m no help. BUT, I don't think a baby wanting to snuggle with and smell his mama is spoiled. I think its love and nurturing!
I could see if he never wanted to be put down or refused to sleep....but he just likes to cuddle & feel secure:) LOs need that. Heck-I need that from DH sometimes too:)

. You cant really spoil a newborn baby (0-3months) but from 4 months and up they start to remember things more, they are more interactive and thats when you can sleep train too. So at that point you can "spoil" them by rushing to pick them everytime they make a sad sound. You can instead try to teach them to self soothe

If spoiled is wanting mama's love, then I say spoil him rotten 
To me, you can't spoil a child by meeting his/her needs.

You can only spoil if it causes a problem for you. My son is super spoiled but he is also very well behaved when we go out and I know how to help him. He sleeps with us, he breastfeeds on demand (even at 18 months old), he gets what he needs and often what he wants.
Some people may think he is spoiled because of that but he doesn't demand things and he has manners etc. He says please and thank you and he doesn't ever demand things in stores etc.

I pick my son up when he's crying (because he rarely cries!) but he's 5.5 months.
Around 4 months I started letting him complain a little more if all of his needs were met. I think that's when they become a little more willful.

Also wanted to add that my son is 20 months and very independent. He plays alone and is happy to explore on his own.
When he was little I held him a ton. It was so much so that I got criticized by my in-laws that he was going to turn out shy and a mamas boy (I HATE that term, by the way!)
You just have to follow your instincts and let the haters hate lol

Also I want to add that in my experience, my son became much more independent around 4 months....without me really changing much. He was more content to play a little on his own then whereas before he would get annoyed if I was not in the room w/ him.

I've had people make comments like to me before but I ignore them. LO is 7 months old, and me or DH pick her up if she wants cuddled or she's fussy all the time. She rarely cries and is usually a very happy baby, and I think it's because we "spoil" her.

My LO is really clingy to me (he is 6 1/2 months old), and I have been told it is because I spoil him. I think people need to mind their own business! I am home with him all day, we EBF, and he is a cuddly kid in general. If I just let him lay there and cry what would I be teaching him?
I am more than happy to let him snuggle with me as much as he wants to, because one day, he won't want to anymore, and I don't want to ever regret missing out on snuggle time with my babay. They are only little for so long.

@brownie: we're the same way, and I don't think that's spoiling a child, I think it's attachment parenting-- creating a strong bond. If anything, I think it's made our older daughter less spoiled because she cares deeply about how we react to her... So she's more likely to react to a disapproving stare or a quiet word of caution

I don't think you *can* spoil a baby. A toddler, however is an entirely diffrent story.
A baby who can't talk yet, I say snuggle away!
