What do you do with the baby when you're house is getting sprayed for bugs? Do you just leave for a couple of hours after?

what type of spray and where in the house? everywhere?
we had our apartment treated with organic pesticide when we got bed bugs. i cleaned like a mad woman 24 hours afterwards (we spent the night in a hotel), and i evidently ingested a lot of pesticide that was in the air, it came out in my milk, and charlie was allergic. that's why i weaned.
of course our entire apt was sprayed top to bottom. i would ask the company how long you should leave the house for if you have a baby.

@Mrs. Bee: Wow, what an awful experience! My husband is the one doing the spraying, our friend used to own a Do It Yourself bug store so we got all the stuff from him. And my husband doesn't know the answer. I don't know what kind of spray, I'll have to ask him. When I was pregnant he sprayed and I left the house during and for a few hours after. He doesn't spray everywhere, just behind furniture because we also have a dog that we have to be careful with.
I had a feeling I wouldn't get many responses for this, I think I'm the only Floridian on here and most people up north don't have to worry about roaches as much as we do. Gross!

well the pesticide covered every single surface and wall, but i'm sure you won't be spraying even a fraction of that quantity. honestly i think it may have just been worse because it was organic pesticide -- the smell was so strong (peppermint + rosemary).
there are actually tons of roaches in ny. the sublet we stayed at after charlie got allergic had tons of roaches!
if it's heavy duty bug killing stuff, maybe better to check whether it's safe for you to be around. it seems like a couple of hours should be ok, but i'm definitely no expert!

I would guess if you only had to leave for a short while during your pregnancy then it would be the same with the baby. But that is just my guess.

@Mrs. Bee: that's weird, you'd think organic would be better!

I grew up in fl so I understand the roach issue. My mom used to only let the bug people spray on the perimeter of outside the house. Inside she used little drops left on cardboard for ants.
