Thaks guys, I didn't think of my increased water affecting my weight.
I did measurements a week ago too, and some of those increased today as well. hopefully I'm just crappy at measuring!
persimmon / 1178 posts
@cmomma17: aw, that does suck when that happens. It is hard to play for the long game when short term metrics are being finicky!

sorry, I know I a posting a lot today but:
Finally back to 4 miles for my run! That body fat calculator can kiss my fat ass

@lizzywiz: One of my Zumba instructors has a great routine to that song.
I bought some size 12 jeans today! I was on the verge of an 18 over the holidays, so this is a pretty big victory for me. Would love to get down into those single digits again, but honestly, I am feeling pretty good.

Um how the f did I LOSE my running shoes? Life fail May just have to bite the bullet and pop over to the Sports Basement and pick up a new pair...I seriously can't find them anywhere (along with my favorite sweatshirt and a swimsuit, ugh).
coconut / 8079 posts
@NorCalWayfarer: oh no! I hope you find some great ones to replace them!
@Mrs. Yoyo: that's exciting!!
@lizzywiz: 4 miles is great! I have been walking 4 miles each day this week since LO has been sick and I haven't made it to the gym as much as usual. But I don't think I could run 4!
persimmon / 1178 posts
@Mrs. Yoyo: going down a size is so sweet!
@NorCalWayfarer: hm, missing running shoes, swimsuit and sweat shirt...maybe you left 'em at your last triathlon?
@jhd: Walking everyday is supposed to be the absolute best thing for long term health. I actually don't know if I could walk 4miles everyday, at least not without getting sore at first. Because of my work/limited childcare situation, most of my workouts are intense but short- 40min max, but I want to do longer when my schedule opens up. I have an older fried in her late 60's who walks 5 miles everyday and her weight/metabolic numbers/ blood pressure etc are better than mine!
coconut / 8079 posts
@lizzywiz: that's awesome you are able to work in those workouts. i know it must be tough balancing everything. it sounds like you really maximize your workout time. my parents walk 3 miles a day in the evening when my dad gets done with work. they are in great shape. i can walk for miles at a pretty good pace, but it seems i also need more intense cardio and some strength stuff to get anywhere in losing weight.

Hi guys! Posting from a treadmill, just did day 1 of couch to 5k which I have enjoyed in the past. I fell off the wagon for a few days - no waking, little water, lots of ice cream. All due to bad days/stress. Definietly an emotional/stress eater. I'm so sick of all of my clothes being tight and feeling gross. Need to stop making excuses. DH is on board and we are only allowed to treat ourselves to ice cream (or whatever) two days a week - Wednesday and Sunday. I wish I could go to the gym more often and even start taking classes but we recently went down to one car for financial reasons and now DH has accepted a new job with a commute so I will be stranded at home with two kids most days. have to make the best of it!
coconut / 8079 posts
@cmomma17: good job! on the treadmill first thing on Monday morning! have you ever tried any of the skinny cow ice creams? i also used to get a 90 cal twix and snickers ice cream bars although I'm not sure my local store has them now. I like ice cream sandwiches and mini comes etc for my ice cream fix for the portion control.
We had LO's first birthday party this weekend. It went awesome and I didn't over eat and even sent all the extra cupcakes home with guests. It wasn't the healthiest eating weekend so I'm looking forward to getting back to my routine this week. I had fruit for breakfast and a salad and grilled chicken for lunch.
honeydew / 7811 posts
@jhd: I used to be addicted to skinny cow cones, yum! Might have to switch back to them, thanks for the reminder. Happy birthday to your LO! That's a tough time to eat healthy for sure.
DH arranged his work schedule today so he could leave early and we could go to the gym as a family. Just in time for me to make it to a yoga class! It's been a while and I'm rusty! Glad I did it but man I did NOT enjoy my reflection in a room full of mirrors I've gotten so big
coconut / 8079 posts
@cmomma17: I have been taking a barre type class since Feb and I really like it but the worst part is seeing myself in the mirror, especially since the rest of the class seems to be the type that live at the gym but we will get there!! the other classes I go to are spin or in the pool so no mirrors!
that's great you were able to go to the gym as a family.

@cmomma17: good job getting back into running and heading to the gym!
@jhd: I totally send leftovers away so the temptation won't be in the house!

You guys I miss you so much! I've still been reading along but miss being a part of this here. I hate to say it's been a few weeks since my last workout- but school will be over in two weeks and I'm so psyched to get back into my workout routine.
You are all doing incredible and it's so inspiring
persimmon / 1178 posts
@cmomma17: aw man, home with two LOs and no transportation? Yikes! I hope his making it home early for family gym days can be part of the regular schedule to give you stress relief at the end of the day!
@cmomma17: @jhd: oh, damn the gym mirrors! they can get to me, too. But, like you said, we are moving in the right direction. I am not a 20 year old student w/ a tight body, or a 40 year old exec with a daily gym habit, but I am starting to see muscles through the chubs when I lift and that is enough for me to hang in there.

I haven't done much this week, but I am still tracking my eating and trying to stick to that generally. But, I am PMS-ing, DH is getting ready to start his fishing season so there is a lot of running around getting ready and spending time together, and LO has been sick and unable to go to the gym childcare.
But, a friend gave me her old fitbit flex that she was no longer using so I have been able to track my steps. I can't wait to use it to try to track some sort of estimate on calorie burn while at the gym. It's also been interesting to see how much sleep I am NOT getting when LO is sick and coming into our bed at all hours of the night!
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@bpcmarj: oh man when AF is in town I want to eat sweets and carbs and I just don't feel energized. I have noticed that since working out more regularly that my PMS is not as intense
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
I've worked out at least 30 minutes every day since March 28 except for the 5 days we were in Vegas and 2 days where we had an unexpected family situation. The only thing is I'm still waiting for it to get easier...I generally still do not enjoy working out. But I'm going to keep doing it until the last 9.5 lbs come off.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@sandy: definitely - so excited for a break. I actually did a workout yesterday- I was feeling so sedentary from all the paper writing and studying I needed to just move. It actually felt good- considering I normally hate workouts lol
nectarine / 2242 posts
Is it too late to join you guys? I've been reading along to get inspired but have only started doing anything the past two weeks!
What are you targeting? Overall being more active / making better choices
Why? I had my second (and probably last) baby in January and I'm ready to get my body back! We never had a full length mirror until recently and I am seriously appalled at what my body looks like...I'm turning 30 this year and feel like now is the time to get on track to being healthier and feeling better about myself.
What is your goal? Just making better choices at this point. Ideally I need/want to lose 20+ lbs but I'm not looking at it that way.
How will you reach it? So far I've made a goal to do 4 FitStar circuit workouts a week, and then on the other days walk at least 8,000 steps.
I usually will go super hardcore into high intensity workouts and dieting, and then burn out and binge eat after like 3 days. This time around I'm trying to make this a general lifestyle change, so I'm not really "dieting" I'm just trying to pick healthier options most of the time. I'm also taking it super slow with working out instead of starting something crazy and while it feels annoying / like a waste of time to do lower intensity stuff, I know that is what is sustainable for me so I'm going with it!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: yay for almost being done!
@cmomma17: oh man that sounds rough Can you run in your neighborhood? I also really love Jillian Michaels videos...I did C25k last year, and then took a 3 month break from running and did Jillian instead...when I went back to running after I was faster than when I had stopped...the high intensity intervals get your heart rate up, and she mixes in strength with the cardio. They were super effective for me. I just started Ripped in 30 this week
They are intense, but meant to do every day so they don't make you overwhelmingly sore or anything.
@HappyBaker: welcome! your goals sound a lot like mine Baby steps!

@HappyBaker: Welcome!!
I think I have just decided to give myself the week off and do other things besides the gym. I am still counting my calories and making sure I am eating the right things and also trying to get in as many steps as I can (yesterday I finally got over 6,000). Can't wait to hit the gym again next week.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
I am up like 5lbs I know 2-3 are because of the new scale. I don't get it. I am sticking to my meal plan, with some cheats. I even have been walking/running with R. This sucks.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@Smurfette: You cannot just go by the scale because there are so many factors to your weight. How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? I worked out hard, 5 times a week for 2 months strait and did not see a single change in the scale. But, I was more toned, had more energy, and my clothes were fitting better. Hang in there and don't get discouraged!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@bpcmarj: I can still fit in my old clothes again, but I am feeling really bloated. I am drinking a ton of water a day, so not sure what is causing it. DH tells me to throw the scale out, but for some reason I really need to see the number go down.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Smurfette: When this happens to me it is because I have too much sugar in my diet Is there anywhere you could cut out added sugars? My body clings to body weight if I have any at all. It is ridiculous. I made a batch of lactation cookies last week and ate them all (shame shame) and gained 5 lbs. There is absolutely no way I ate enough calories to gain 5 lbs (my fitbit says I am burning almost 3000 per day, not including breastfeeding!) but for whatever reason sugar really screws with my weight. I can't have any at all if I am trying to lose weight
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Lion: I have had some candy this week. But yeah I haven't eaten enough to know that I really did gain weight. Maybe that is it.
watermelon / 14467 posts
Hey guys! I am on my way back from vacation. I definitely fell off my diet this past week and a half, and it's that time of the month, so i'm bloated. But we had fun, spent all our time outside, and went hiking a lot. I'm looking forward to getting back into my workout groove.
clementine / 770 posts
@Smurfette: I have the same issue with the scale. I know it's not the only factor I should pay attention to, but it's the most concrete thing I can compare day to day.
I've been Mia from this thread because I've been too ashamed to admit I'm off the workout train. But I'm admitting it and moving forward, back to getting active! I have been eating fairly healthy at least.
Great job to everyone who's been sticking with it! And welcome @HappyBaker!

Hey! I'm super late but I'm so in! I haven't been around the boards lately but I would love join in the camaraderie here
What are you targeting?
My weight
Why?
It's time to lose that postpartum weight... now that my baby is 2.5 years old (3 in July)... haha.
What is your goal?
I would love to lose 20 pounds and 2 dress sizes. We just decided to take a 10th anniversary trip in the fall and I want to buy a beautiful dress and renew our vows on our own.
How will you reach it?
I am tracking my calories, balancing my protein/carbs/fat, and exercising 2-3 times a week.
I was running twice a week, which is a HUGE thing for me because I am horrible with any kind of exercise. I was running 5k each time (well, JOGGING... 14-15 min mile... which MyFitnessPal doesn't even recognize as running or jogging, they say "brisk walk" at that rate, haha!) Unfortunately I just came down with a mild case of achilles tendonitis so no running for 3 weeks while I recover. We do have a rower so I'll probably be doing that instead.

@mrs. wagon: Welcome and way to go! If you want to add me on myfitnesspal I have the same username as I do here!

I ran (well ran/walked) Monday and Tuesday and walked during my lunch on Thursday. Did one day of Bikini Body Guide on Monday. It's 95 degrees out right now so I think I'll head down to the gym in my office building and try to do a little treadmill time and Day 2 of the BBG circuit. Still haven't found my running shoes (so I'm wearing an old pair )

@sandy: I hate working out. I feel you!
I hope I can join! I have avoided these threads because I just haven't had it in me to be consistent, but I am going to try my hardest now.
What are you targeting?
Toning.
Why?
Mombutt. Well, that and I am just not feeling happy about my body and if I want it to change I need to create that change, so, here goes!
What is your goal?
My goal is to actually work out and not give up.
How will you reach it?
Trying to stay dedicated. I have no idea. I hope my willpower kicks in here soon.
Today is day 3 of consistent work outs. I can usually start a work out routine fine, but the minute I miss a day I seem to have a 3 month "break".
nectarine / 2242 posts
I've been going to my work gym on the 2 days a week my husband drops our kids off at daycare, and today I decided that is going to be my new "normal". As in, on those days that is what I do, not asking myself if I should / making an excuse not to!
Also I signed up for Fabletics and got my first outfit this week, having a super cute workout outfit definitely motivated me to workout this week! Previously I was wearing old sweatpants and giant t-shirts and feeling like a frump.
Today I emailed someone to try to organize an Intro to Stand Up Paddleboarding class for my mom's night out group - has anyone done it before? I've heard its an amazing workout!

@mrs. wagon: oooh!!! 10 year vow renewal and a new dress is great motivation!
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@HappyBaker: nice! I think making it part of your schedule helps bc there's no excuse that there wasn't time. I make myself do it after LO is in bed and I don't let myself watch tv unless I'm working out or after I'm done with my workout
