@.twist.: 3 days is a great start! I told myself I just have to work out at least 30 minutes a day and that I just need to keep it up until I reach my prepregnancy weight - hopefully by then I'll actually enjoy working out.

@HappyBaker: How did you like the fabletics stuff? I have been thinking about ordering but I am really tall and I'm worried everything will fit wrong (so I stick pretty exclusively to Old Navy tall activewear online.

@sandy: That is a great rule - once I sit down on the couch I find I can NOT get up!
@bpcmarj: I love it! So far I've only received / worn one outfit but was really impressed with the quality. BUT I also have never bought fitness clothes before, I was just wearing old sweats and big tshirts, so I might not be the best judge? It is sort of a weird system where they come out with new outfits / prints each month but then don't restock the old stuff…but they just came out with the new collection today and I loved a lot of it and ordered one more outfit!

Been really good the last two days with eating. I ordered a fit bit and it will be here tomorrow. We are having friends over tomorrow, chicken fajitas. I hope I can be strong and not eat the chips and guacamole!

@bpcmarj: just added you, so weird that we weren't connected before!!
@sandy: I was chatting with my boss about it today and she suggested getting my wedding dress altered to be a more fitted dress (it's a huge ballgown with a train)... and I am kinda thinking maybe I should!!!!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Smurfette: I make my own guacamole with just avocado, salsa, salt and pepper! It's pretty healthy!
@mrs. wagon: ooh that's a great idea
Today was supposed to be my "long run" day and my plan is to run first thing in the am. But dh got up with the kids and let me sleep until 8! So now I don't have time. But it was worth it hoping I can scrape together the motivation to go tonight after the kids are asleep instead.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Lion: I am not worried about the guacamole. It's the chips that get me in trouble! I am going to eat shell less fajitas with guac on top!
Sometimes sleep is more important!

Monday check in!
I did really well food wise last week, and got out for a few baby wearing walks. I've decided to up my exercise commitment and buy the bob revolution jogging stroller as a Mother's Day gift to myself.
I've reached my pre pregnancy weight, but I'm still not totally happy with how squishy I am. I know I will never be exactly as I was before, but I'm gonna try to at least be as active as I was.

@Peasinapod: Congrats on getting to your pre-preg weight and your mothers day present!
Checking in for Monday here:
Saturday I did an awesome 30 min work out. Plus we went and played at the park and ran around a field a bit.
Sunday I didn't work out but we did spend a lot of time playing outside, which is more than I normally do...
I need to make an effort to spend more time outside with L and DH, even if I hate the weather (we get a LOT of wind here and it's the bane of my existence).
@sandy: thanks! I agree, 30 mins is really not a long time and you can get a really good work out in that amount of time. I just have to actually suck it up and do it! I bought myself some sparkly unicorn and kitty stickers to put on the calendar for days I work out.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@.twist.: Sticker charts for workouts - good idea! You could make some rule like you need at least 3 stickers per week for 10 weeks to earn a reward. Or it would just be nice to see a ton of stickers on your calendar and know that it shows all your workout days
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
I am still working out everyday for 30 minutes and trying to eat within my calories. The weight isn't coming off as fast as I would like but at least the number on the scale isn't just climbing.
I tried on the dress I want to fit into for my friend's wedding and it does NOT fit. I can get it zipped with a lot of effort but it's just too small and I'm completely suffocating in it I really didn't want to buy a new dress but I've already started to look. It's discouraging but I'm trying to tell myself there's no huge rush

@.twist.: I have a calendar on the fridge to track my workouts and I totally want sparkly stickers! I've just been using check marks. Lame!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Mrs. Lion: @sandy: haha! Let your inner 5 year old free, ladies. Let them free. Go get yourself some sparkly calendar bling.

I am still up like 2lbs thanks to the new scale. Sucks that I have to re lose it. But I got a fit bit and it is helping me to walk more during the day. R and I started the first day of couch to 5K last night. Pushing that stroller up the hills in our neighborhood while running/walking isn't an easy feat.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Smurfette: pushing the stroller is rough! I ran with the baby last night ( I've been running on the track at the gym) and it was so hard!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
So I made some improvement - I did body pump yesterday and doubled my squat track weight. Back when I first started body pump - I couldn't even get through squat track doing body-weight only squats - much less a barbell. Over time I increased it slightly but I still struggled. I really want to push myself though - so I loaded the bar with 50 lbs - and I did almost the entire track - I am feeling it today but it's so good and I'm so proud! I increased weights on every track except lunges (ugh hate lunges). I feel it today for sure!
Also - considering finals is next week - I'm actually proud to say I fit in about 3-4 workouts in the past week. And yesterday I bought a personal training package from the Y and I'm coordinating with a personal trainer right now - I think I'm starting the day after finals are over and I'm really excited.
I'm also planning on starting a whole30 on June 1. It will be my second one and I had amazing results last time. I know I really need to cut sugar again. It's my fallback when I'm stressed and I've definitely been stressed lately.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@.twist.: @sandy: omg I love this idea!! I've been marking in my calendar with a check mark and # of calories burned the days I work out - but I would much rather have sparkly stickers lol!!!
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Girl, that is impressive. I went to body pump for a while and never squatted more than just the bar! Good for you!
blogger / pomelo / 5400 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Great job! I've done Pump a few times and am never really sure how much weight to use.
The past week wasn't as good food-wise and I saw it in the scale -- only down .2 instead of losing the 1 or 1.5 that I have been losing. It is definitely getting harder to stay in my calorie ballpark as I lose weight … stupid catch 22!
I also need to switch it up a little. Love Zumba but I do need to start with the weights. Which I've pretty much said every time I've been on here, lol.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Smurfette: @Mrs. Lion: Running with the stroller is so tough, but once you are used to it and then run without it, you'll be so much faster and everything will be easier. It's like cardio/weight all in one!
I ran 4.5 miles yesterday. It was so hard, and hot. I feel like I'm starting over because my times are so slow, but I have a hard time pushing through the difficult sections. I'm also back on track with my eating habits. Being on my period makes thing so much harder.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@Smurfette: go mama! I've never tried to run with a stroller but all my runner friends say it's totally brutal trying to push a toddler
@Mrs. Pen: nice! And good for you investing in some personal training sessions. I've been debating this...we shall see. I feel like I should try Whole30 to reset my body too...but it just seems so hard...
@avivoca: I hate working out when I have AF
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@sandy: it is hard but you just feel SO good when you're done! My skin was clear, acid reflux was gone, I lost 12 lbs - it was amazing. The hardest part is just the time it takes for prep and planning ahead. I would eat like that all the time if I had some time-saving way to do it.
I have my personal training consult tomorrow and I'm excited
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: have you ever tried a less intense clean eating "detox"? I'm curious if cutting out all processed foods and sugar would do the same thing g as whole 30, or if cutting out all grains and dairy is really better? I have had a lot of luck with the less extreme detox but have never tried whole 30. I'm wondering if I should consider it.
coconut / 8079 posts
DH and I have both been sick. Hoping I can get back into my gym routine tomorrow. You ladies are doing great! Loving all the positive updates on this thread!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Mrs. Lion: well since I never eat processed foods, I don't know it would do much for me. Cutting grains and sugar is huge for me. When I had thrush my doctor had me cut those two to stop feeding the yeast infection and I was shocked at how quickly I started dropping weight.
I'm still not entirely sure what effect dairy has on Me - I want to believe my Greek yogurt is healthy but I don't know what to believe.
But I will say I just loved the results of the whole 30, and I guess since I've tried to follow a similar diet since - I don't see it as extreme for myself personally.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: That makes sense. Since I don't eat hardly any processed snack type foods either I am so dairy dependent for snacks. I would have a really hard time giving that up! What kids of things do you include?
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Mrs. Lion: one of the ideas of whole 30 is that by eating nourishing food, you will feel full until your next meal, thus eliminating the need for snacks. Snacking is so psychological and that's part of why I like the whole 30- it addresses the psychological connection we have with food. If I really needed to snack I would have veggies or fruit- sometimes an apple with almond butter, a handful of nuts, or a homemade Lara bar. But I tried to avoid snacking if I could and make filling meals.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: Do you think that applies when breastfeeding too? I am not a big snacker, but sometimes I am hungry between meals and I usually have a banana with almond butter, homemade trail mix with just almonds and raisins, or some cheese and ham rolled up. I guess the cheese and ham would be out, right (or is ham ok if it is nitrate free?)
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Mrs. Lion: yeah ham is fine as long as it doesn't have the additives. So all of those snacks are fine except the cheese! I am not sure about whole 30 while pregnant- I think in general they say not to do detox diets while pregnant because your body will release toxins through your placenta and breast milk. Still eat healthy of course but I wouldn't do a whole 30 while pregnant unless I was already eating that way.
blogger / grapefruit / 4836 posts
@Mrs. Pen: oh okay! That's interesting. I guess I will just keep doing what I am doing haha We eat pretty healthy at home (with some occasional not healthy stuff when we go out to eat). Maybe I will try it someday
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Mrs. Lion: I definitely think it's worth a try some day- or some type of detox-like diet - my sister just did the 21 day sugar fix and loved it. She and I have the same vice: chocolate/sugar.
Okay all so I had my fitness consult and first mini-personal training workout and it went so well! I really like my trainer so far and I hope I can swing it $$ to keep with her 1x week for the whole summer. I think it will be really valuable to me to get this 1x1 time and personalization. We went over my goals and found out we have a lot of the same interests and beliefs regarding fitness (like I hate cardio/running and prefer weights and so does she, I told her about the whole30 and she said she eats 80% paleo!). She also said I passed her fitness test with flying colors, and she is excited because since I have a strong fitness base knowledge/experience I'll get to try a lot of new things that beginners might not be ready for. She thinks I'll definitely reach my summer goals - I'm so excited!

Been MIA because work has been hella hard lately, but I have been lurking and getting inspiration from your updates
So, gave up the ghost that slowly adopting a more healthy lifestyle was gonna get me the results I wanted by June, and started diet shakes. Lost two solid pounds and a 1/2 inch on the waist using the Svelte cappuccino ones you recommended @sandy:
This isn't a diet I can (or want to) sustain but I am losing this gut, at least temporarily, if it kills me. Well, it's not gonna kill me- it's gonna kill the people whose heads I bite off while I'm hangry, ha.
@avivoca: I just got back up to 4.5 last week and my LO is 3....so 1.5 a year? Geez. AND I was beat for the rest of the day, so I know what you are sayin'.
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
@Mrs. Pen: nice!!! That's so exciting she says you'll be able to reach your summer goal! I just started incorporating weights this week bc I feel like weight loss with just cardio is leveling off. So far I like it!
@lizzywiz: so yummy right! I think having a shake and a big salad is totally doable for a meal especially if it's hard to add protein to your salad. I crave it bc it tastes so good
cantaloupe / 6687 posts
I don't know if it's just coincidence but I started weights this week and I'm down 1.5 lbs! I'm so pumped bc weights are "easier" for me than cardio - meaning I'm not staring down the clock and hating every minute. I do hate the end of each set but it goes so fast and there are more breaks. Right now I'm only doing 15 minutes cardio and 2 muscle groups a day (back and biceps or chest and triceps). I'm excited to see if the weight comes off faster with weights being added
I did really good not gorging myself for Mother's Day celebrations today but I did indulge more than a normal day - back to healthy eating after the weekend!
watermelon / 14467 posts
I've lost another 1/2 an inch! I'm really proud of myself!
@sandy: Kudos to you for starting weights! I need to do them, but I really hate lifting.

@Mrs. Pen: that's awesome your training session went so well! I know you will be able to make good progress this summer without such a stressful school schedule!
@lizzywiz: 2lbs and 1/2 in is great! Hope you aren't too hangry with your new routine!!
@sandy: I need to do some weights too. Good for you!
@avivoca: another 1/2 in is great!! Congrats!
