Did your LO have trouble falling asleep when they learned how to stand in the crib? How long did the phase last?!?

Cobi JUST started doing this a few days ago! And now he is obsessed with it! Nursing him to sleep doesn't work anymore so I have no safety net to fall back on. It took us three hours to put him down yesterday. He'd been awake for 5 hours!! Ugh it was awful.
No advice but I feel your pain!!!
I think it's just so new and exciting for them to learn something so phenomenal. The newness will wear off shortly, one of my friends has a little girl a couple months older than DS and she did the same thing and it only lasted a couple weeks.

@Coco Bee: I'm sorry you are going through it too!!!! Since my LO isn't sick anymore, I decided to see if she would cry it out and sit back down and fall asleep. She cried hysterically for almost 40 minutes and just fell asleep. I feel bad for not soothing her but I can't continue to hold, rock or take her into our bed!

Maybe 2 weeks? I can't remember but it will pass soon enough. Hang in there!

Yes, its just too exciting to stand! They get over it though.

My almost 7 month old just started this last week. But luckily it's not everyday. I think he forgets he can do it sometimes. He didn't take his second nap yesterday because of it. Hopefully it won't last as long as when he started rolling. That took a good month before he'd settle down.

It will pass! I think my LO liked standing but also couldn't figure out how to sit back down, so there were some frustrating naps and bedtimes. But after a week or so, she got the hang of it. Now she'll stand up but eventually plop back down and go to sleep. My daycare provider said that sitting back down (on purpose) can be as challenging as standing.

DD did this for about a month. She would stand and there and say HI! Over and over. Kinda freaked me out lol

10 months, just figured out the pull up to stand thing. If he sits up in his crib, it's all over and I have to start the going to sleep process over since he is wide awake.
Glad to see we aren't alone, but I hope it doesn't last long!

hahaha. Mine did that at 7 months. It wasn't too bad! It was worse when he figured out how to rollover and sitting up though. That took about 1-2 weeks I think for him to get over it?
Just leave 'em, they'll pass out when they are tired. haha

Oh dear, I'm not looking forward to this. She is such a good sleeper right now.

You know, DD never had a problem with it. She learned how to fall down on her butt pretty quickly and would stand up, fall down, and repeat for a good 20 min before she would put herself to sleep. Sounds like I should be very grateful she didn't have a problem getting back down!

She went to sleep right away last night...hopefully this will be the start of a new trend? Fingers crossed!

@autumnlove: I know this is a very old thread, but how long did this phase last for you? We're going through this right now and it's awful!
He just learned how to stand in the crib (11 months) and he SCREAMS the minute I walk out of his room. I had to rock him to sleep tonight, and as much as I secretly enjoyed that (since he hasn't let me rock him to sleep since he was 3 months old), I can't make it a habit. I'm afraid he'll throw up if I let him cry... that's how hysterical he gets

@Pepper: Awww! It only happened a few more times that week so it was a short but difficult phase.
I saved her from her crib the first 2-3 days (put her back in the crib when she was knocked out) and then I let her cry it out the rest of the week.
I hope this phase doesn't last long for C! He is getting so big!

@Pepper: we just went through this 2-3 weeks ago. It took more than a week of us trying to rock her and her standing up the second she hit the crib. Then we did some sleep training last weekend (just let her cry till she was ready to lay down willingly) and it worked. Now she's back to falling asleep pretty easily,

@autumnlove: @Anagram: Thanks for the replies! Sounds like we might have to do a little sleep training if it doesn't improve. Hopefully it's just a short lived phase.
@blackbird: Ahhh! Well at least she eventually goes to sleep
