Is starbucks gold really any good? I thought I would get a free drink when I hit it, but it looks like you have to earn twelve more stars? So like, buy 42 drinks, get one free?
I never thought the green rewards were any good. I didn't get emails from them until a few weeks ago (I signed up but never received them.)
Besides the free birthday drink I am failing to see the point of it! Have you gotten any deals?

Pretty much just a free drink every 12 purchases, but since I hit up SB every morning on the way to work, I get a free one about twice a month. Around Christmas they had a special buy one get one deal for gold members, but that's the only good deal I've seen.

I get a free drink every 12 purchases as well. Once in awhile, I'll get a promo code for food or a couple bucks off a drink. But it seems the deals are hit and miss for ppl even if everyone has Gold. Like some get better deals than others even though others spend more. *shrug*

It's good if you go there a lot! I love that I can just use my phone and it auto-reloads. I feel like we have a free drink on there pretty often!

I don't find it super worth it. You get the occasional bonus offer to your email but besides that, it's not really that great. The best coffee deals I've seen (and no, doesn't compare to starbucks) but we have buy 6 and get the 7th (or 8th?) free at mcdonalds and their coffee is actually quite good now that they've changed it.
I won't be making any attempts to remain a gold member. If I happen to make enough purchases then cool but other than that, not worth it.

I don't think its worth it to go out of your way to get gold, just to get it. 1/12 drinks free is like 10% off so on your average latte that is only like .35. I casually drink Starbucks, there is only 1 in town and it's in a grocery store and barely go often enough to re qualify 30x a year.

I just have it year to year... there's some weekly rewards and such, but I don't think I've ever used any. Just the free every twelve drinks.
And the free music and app downloads that show up in my app, but I think that's for all app users?

The one thing I really like is that I'm always getting emails that give me extra stars if I buy coffee on certain days. So instead of a free drink every 12 purchases it's closer to 8 or so.

I think 30 drinks a year is a lot to be in the gold member. I am too cheap to spend that much per year on coffee when I can make it at home. And I feel like every 12th drink free is too much as well. Like someone else said, McDonalds gives the 8th for free, and you don't even need to be a special member.

It is good to have around Christmas because you can get 4 5 or 6 stars if you make one daily special purchase.

If you drink starbucks fairly often and you get gold, it's a pretty good rewards program. I get emails and also if you use it with their on-going store sales (treat receipt, drink receipts, holiday drink sticker promotion, occasional BOGO deals) then add in free drinks (or food) after 12 purchases and birthday rewards. Starbucks in Seattle are everywhere so it's pretty convenient to rack up points.
I cut back on my Starbucks trips because I changed my commute, but I think I have gold until Dec 2015. I do love their Salted Caramel Mochas and I'll get it in decaf as an afternoon treat.

My husband and I both use the same gold card, and we rack up free drinks, bonus stars and promos a lot. I think it all depends on how often you use it, and what you use it for.

Depends on how often you go. I go every morning on my way to work, so I get a free drink pretty often. They also send you special promo codes throughout the year and I get emails to take surveys which result in extra stars as well.

I got gold this year because I was going each week when I ran errands with LO. Like the others said I get free drinks every 12 stars. But I usually wait for those emails they send about earning extra bonus stars for purchasing a certain drink or making a purchase during a particular time in order to earn stars (and the free drink) faster. Otherwise it'd take me a long time to earn my free drink.

I love my gold card. My husband and I use the same card and we go to starbucks a lot so we rack up the free drinks pretty fast.

@Alivoo01: I think they actually do it just the opposite... My husband and I both have cards, and if we use his card for a while, I get the better email offers (to woo me back I guess) and if we use mine for a while, he starts getting better offers! So we play them off each other, switching back and forth between cards
