@Mrs. Sunshine: I hate having to ask (and yes, sometimes beg) for help, too. I want him to WANT to do these things, but that just ain't happening.

For the rest of you that said your husband's help automatically, did you have to initially ask them to clean bathrooms, etc. or did they just always do it? I've asked so many times in the past, but he never just does it on his own. And truthfully, I know he feels since I am the one home all day, I should do it. Even though he had said while dating that he believes in the whole gender equality, etc. and no clear gender roles, I don't buy that for a sec anymore. He thinks since I stay at home, that I should do those things more than him. Sometimes I think that is true since I DO have the time to do those things. But most of me thinks that is a load of crap. I am so busy during the day taking care of our toddler and would love the help when he's home. Even on weekends, I have to tell him when to feed our son, or ask him to do it. He never initiates anything. I still feel like it is my full-time job on the weekend taking care of our son.

I loved all of you who said when your husbands are home, the work is divided 50/50. Did they always do that, before kids? DId you have to ask them to contribute? Ours is not. But he will gladly do anything I ask him to do as I said. But never, ever volunteer to do it. I actually left our vacuum in the upstairs hallway many months ago to see if he'd vacuum (I know that is passive aggressive) because I'd asked before if he would do the vacuuming weekly. The vacuum sat for over a week! Ugh.
