I got the basic vax model and it works great, I would recommend buying lots of the cloths for it though, mine always seems to be in the wash and I forget to buy more.

We have the shark steam mop - love it!

I've had a steam mop and didn't use it too much. We have tile floor and just use a wet swiffer pretty much every day. I buy the wet swiffer pads at costco. I don't have kids, though. Or pets. And I do not allow shoes in my house. Still... I swiffer every day. Crumbs just kill me.

We got a Swiffer Bissell Steam cleaner before Christmas, but I don't think it's strong enough for you, from the sounds of it. I like it on my small kitchen and bathroom floors, but our place is tiny!

I registered and received the sharp pro team pocket mop. I used it on our hardwood & tile, so far so good! I love that I can clean the floors without chemicals.

I'm very happy with our Shark pocket steam mop. I hate mopping with a passion, and this makes my life so much easier with 3 cats, a dog, a toddler, and a super messy husband.

It doesn't do much for grout- but I have a hand steamer for that part when it starts to bug me. Of course, the more often you mop, the less opportunity there is of grout getting really bad.

It isn't perfect since it is kind of a shortcut, it takes some elbow grease and patience and I usually go over each floor twice just to get it nice and clean (once on each side of the pocket), but I don't plan to go back to a normal mop ever again! I'm not a perfectionist, for me this process is about as good as it's going to get in our house, and I can do it every week or so without a whole lot of effort.
