I'm home sick today so, let's have some fun. What are some things you will always see/hear in soaps?
Dramatic music.
Same characters for 20 years... Still with the same drama.
What else?

1. Who's the father?

Someone gets injured and develops amnesia, everyone else thinks they are dead, and then they show up 1 to 5 years later and find their wife/husband is married to their best friend/brother/sister/cousin, etc...

I love how everyone's been married about 6 times and has children that are never seen on screen.

Don't they always fall down the stairs and lose the baby? That's what my mom would always joke about. Her mom watched a ton of soaps.

@IRunForFun: yes, that's my favorite part of soaps, the rapid aging!
I also like the hours that everyone spends at work...hardly any!

Whoa! I was just getting showered at the gym to come back up to work and Day's of Our Lives was on and I found myself wondering why no one in a Soap Opera ever seems to know who the father is! So I'm with @leelee:

@looch: Unless they work in a hospital. In which case, they seem to be at work 24/7.

I love that even if you don't watch the show for a year you can still catch up pretty fast after just 1 episode!

I love the long serious stares before commercial breaks. I always think about how funny that must be for the actors.

Weddings stopped at the last minute . . . which also ties in to people coming back from the dead!

@Mamaof2: Haha so true! In one year, the characters age 5 years, but the story line only advances about 5 days!!

If someone is pregnant, they WILL get stuck in an elevator with their ex-lover and deliver the baby. Common sense!!

@Mamaof2: it's been like 8 years since I've seen Days. Sammie is still there. Still causing trouble. Haha.
And booze. Always drinking out of fancy glasses.
