This is new and I don't like it! She's sticking her fingers so far down her throat that she's gagging herself. Then she thinks it's funny, I have no idea how to make her stop.

@StbHisMrs: DS used to do this!! It didn't last very long but he did make himself throw up once.
Apparently the combination of new sensation and parents' hysterical reactions make this move irresistible to LO's...
I found that ignoring him was the trick to get him to stop. It's hard though.

We went through a short phase of this, too. I know it's hard, but try to ignore or keep your reaction very low-key. The more you freak, the more she'll want to do it!

@rachiecakes: @Mrs. Yoyo: How old were your LO's when they started doing this? I will try ignoring next time, that is so hard, I really don't want to clean up that mess!!!

I want to say he was 14-15 months? It didn't last long -- maybe a week, and mostly when he was in his car seat.

DD did this around 4 months old. I think she spent a day gagging and then never did it again. There wasn't anything I could do. I kept telling her to please stop, but obviously she didn't understand.

DS does this too and I HATE it! In fact,on Friday he did it twice so badly he threw up a little. I know it is because his molars are coming in and they are bothering him, but seriously?! I don't do barf, even if it is self inflicted.

@MamaBehr: I'm right there with you, I told my dh I was glad he was home, lol. I just shampooed all of our carpets and mopped the floors, I'm not doing them again!
She's going to be 18 months soon, could also be a teething thing. I haven't seen her do it again today, fingers crossed!

Don't worry! It's just a phase! We went through this around the one year mark. It didn't last too long. We tried not to give him a reaction and I think that helped.

Haha, my LO still does this at 7.5 months. I think he started at 4 or 5 months? It doesn't seem to bother him much so I try to ignore it!
