I need reassurance here, ladies. I've not had the stomach flu while pregnant and my kids had it over the weekend and today I finally have succumbed. I've thrown up numerous times this afternoon/evening and it's not morning sickness throwing up, it's definitely stomach cramping flu throw up. 
I'm only 6 weeks 4 days pregnant. Please tell me this can't affect an early pregnancy like that?? Looking for reassurance or stories or something. I'm just nervous about it!!

I had 4 stomach bugs during my first trimester with DS. Gatorade was key, and try to up your protein and probiotics AFTER you are well.

@MrsSRS: Oh my gosh. 4 times?! 
I will do those things! Right now I'm barely keeping down ice chips but trying my best to stay hydrated.

@coopsmama: Yep. Every other weekend for 2 months. 
Tiny sips of Gatorade stay down better than water or ice. Try to remember that women with hyperemesis have healthy babies too so you are probably fine! (heinously uncomfortable, maybe, but probably ok)

@MrsSRS: I don't have any Gatorade, unfortunately, and we're in the middle of a crazy snow storm here so I'm stuck without it but if we can get out tomorrow I will pick some up for recovery.

Oh man! Well sometimes bouillon or apple juice in tiny quantities stay down better than water, too. Feel better!!!

@coopsmama: I had one right at 6 weeks along with hyperemesis, so I was very very very sick and I have a big healthy 8 month old. I have spent two pregnancies vomiting all the time, and both babies have turned out fine and healthy! The body is very good at protecting even early pregnancies, so you will be fine.

@coopsmama: I had the stomach flu when I was 16 weeks pregnant with my second. My OB was only worried about dehydration, and told me to head in for fluids if I couldn't stop throwing everything up after 24 hours (I couldn't keep down any liquids!).
I agree with everyone else that the body does a magnificent job of protecting baby, so you'll be fine albeit unconfortable. Tiny sips of flat pop, water, broth and tiny bites of toast will help!

I had a stomach virus in my second trimester and I was so miserable. It took me forever to recover because I also still had horrible morning sickness. But baby is fine.

I had a stomach bug when I was 11/12 weeks pregnant with LO2. I'm a major worrier but I kept telling myself that some women have worse morning sickness.

I got norwalk when I was 9 weeks pregnant with my first. I ended up going to the hospital after about 12+ hours of literally non stopped vomiting and diarrhea as I was worried about dehydration ( and being so sick while newly pregnant.) The Dr so kindly said, " that thing ( I wish I could you italics to write that ) is inside you and it's not going anywhere. You're fine." haha.
Anyways, they gave me a shot in my butt to help stop the vomiting ( I think it was just gravol, or something similar) and then gave me metoclopramide to take after as well. I was fine and baby was fine.

@coopsmama: So sorry you are going through this. Not totally similar, but one of my best friend's got bad food poisoning in her early pregnancy. She was throwing up so much it caused severe hemorrhaging. Baby was fine though and born at 10+ pounds! So I'm hoping you will be fine with this yucky flu and that it passes quickly.

I had the stomach flu a 15 weeks with my first. As others have said, dehydration is the big concern. I ended up having to go to the ER for fluids when I started vomiting straight bile. So keep an eye on things and don't hesitate to call your OB for advice if you think you're getting to a bad place in terms of hydration.

I had a stomach flu at 17 weeks with my first. It is awful, but like others said, dehydration was the only concern of my doctor. Baby was fine.

You can make your own Gatorade if you have some juice - mix about 50/50 juice and add a bit of salt for electrolytes.

Watch out for a fever and dehydration! Hope it's a short, 24 hour bug!

Thank you all for your thoughts! It seriously encouraged me to read them. I was able to stop throwing up after about 9 hours of non stop puking and my husband was able to run out and get me some coconut water and Gatorade so I'm drinking up now and slowly reintroducing food.
Definitely not a fun night I'm looking to repeat soon but I'm feeling hopeful that I was able to hold off dehydration and that the pregnancy wasn't adversely affected!!
