When did stranger anxiety start for you?
DS is 7 months and my nephew was showing anxiety around this age.
Am I totally a whack-a-do for kinda being exited for stranger anxiety?! Only because I find it totally gush-worthy when my baby wants me or cries for me... does something to this heart of mine

My LO has been a total mama's girl for ages. She's 9 months now. I swear it started when she was just a few months old. It's very flattering, but also frustrating sometimes!

I don't recall DS ever having stranger anxiety. He started going to the church nursery at 8 mths and I've never had him cry for him to not leave and he's 8 now. lol
I wonder when DD will start, if she does.

Ours started right at 4 months.
We went to our 4 month wellness visit and as soon as our Ped walked in, LO lost it. I was like wth? wondering what set her off b/c I'd never had her react like that and our Ped though it was strange for her to have stranger anxiety so soon. Since then, she get's worried when someone new first comes around and I'm not right with her or upset if someone new scoops her up too soon.

Between 3 & 4 months. He doesn't always have it, but depending on the day and the person, he can get it bad. Like huge pouty lip and alligator tear crying. Most of the time he's fine, though.

DD has gone through several stages of stranger anxiety; I think the first phase started around 4 months? The last one was around... 24/25 months, so not that long ago.

DD started at 3 months. Ugh, it kills me!! My parents want to hold her so bad but she acts like her feelings are hurt if I hand her off to anyone.

My older lo does not know the meaning of stranger... everyone in the worlds her best friend, it is scary.

My LO started it pretty early. She would cry when people even talked to her, or looked at her. It was awful and embarrassing.! It wasn't just strangers, it was her grandparents who she saw once a week. She finally got over that and now she just loves when people give her attention, but she will still cry if they try to pick her up. Like bawl and scream her head off cry. She only lets me, DH, and her grandparents hold her.
It's nice like you say because you like your LO to like you.... but it does get old because then you NEVER get a break. If I go to a party, a friend's house, shopping with a friend, anywhere that DH or my parents arent..... I can't just hand LO off while I go pee or get a plate of food.

It started for LO around 3.5 months, but for some reason he is fine with some people and not others. Like, he's totally fine with his doctor and the nurses there and loves a couple of our friends, but most other people he cries for. It has taken me 4 weeks with a babysitter to get him to a point where he will play with her for more than 10 minutes without crying for me.

It started around 6 months and now at 7 months, it's come on full force. The only people she's ok with are me, husband, and my parents. If anyone holds her, its game over.

@LAGS: Ours started at 4 months, too. She's 5 1/2 months right now and everyone talks about how serious she is. Some of my friends make comments saying "oh you need to take her out more!" Um, she goes out every day, she just doesn't like strangers! I say (very snarky) "Well, she doesn't know you" in the hopes that they will feel guilty for not being around since she was born.

@bree72: I'm with you. It totally depends on the day/person. Sometimes she loves attention from strangers. Other times, she cries hysterically and shakes like she's frightened.
Also, she has to be able to see me at ALL time. Im a SAHM and if I go to the bathroom, she cries. If I go to switch out the laundry, cries. Sigh. At least she can't follow me into the bathroom at this point lol

I'm totally digging this old thread up! I searched for it because my LO is only 3.5m and he has started major stranger anxiety this week. It started with my own mother:(
@Mrs. Pen: it flatters me to so e extent too;) but I hope he will be OK in social settings/play dates...
