My LO is a little over five months old now and I have been noticing some stranger anxiety particularly with my mom. The last couple times she has visited DD has been very irratable and cranky and would cry frequently when she saw my mom. I'm wondering if this is the start of stranger anxiety? Today she is back to her usual happy self. I guess we will see how she is when she sees her other grandparents tomorrow.
When did you start seeing stranger anxiety in your LO?

I think we first saw it around 11 months and it lasted for almost a week!

Oh my gosh, I could have created this post! LO has some major stranger anxiety with my mom...she is also 5 months old. She gets it with others sometimes too, but a lot with my mom. I have no idea why because she sees my mom the most. I hope this is something they grow out of and I hope it doesn't get worse. How does one fix this? I always thought it didn't happen until after age 1.

@Bao: I was really surprised too! My mom visits every weekend so it's not like she's never met her before. About a month ago I started seeing a little bit of it with my mom but yesterday was definitely the worst. When I was getting her after her nap my mom leaned over the crib too and she burst into tears! I hope it passes quickly.

My LO's stranger anxiety started at around 4.5-5 months. I was so surprised because I wasn't expecting it until 7 months or so!

It definitely started around then. It got better a few weeks later, and hasn't come back yet at 9 months.

LO's started at 6 months on the nose, and got better at around 8 months it was a painful 2 months though!

DD started having stranger anxiety at around 5.5 months. Her grandfather came over to visit her a few weeks ago and she freaked out! She also freaked out when the nurse tried to take her temp.

We had it early around 4.5 months where DS would scream every time his grand parents came near, we also had a hard time taking him to crowded places like dinner parties or restaurants. Happy to say he grew out of it by 5.5 months and now loves his grandparents again.
