I went to a wedding reception for a friend of DH's last week and was surprised to find I was the only one in a strapless dress. This is probably a silly question, but did I miss a memo about dresses? This dress is 8 years old but cute. What do you wear to a wedding?
For context, Friday night reception at a nice local resort hotel.

Probably just a coincidence. Strapless dresses are perfectly fine as wedding guest.

@Meowkers: thanks! I was realizing how long it has been since I bought a new dressy dress (this dress was what I wore to my rehearsal dinner 7 yrs ago) and I was just very surprised!

It's totally fine! Maybe in recent years strapless is just not as big of a trend?

I probably wouldn't wear one, just because I like to get down on the dance floor and wouldn't want to keep hiking it up. But that's totally a personal choice - I wouldn't judge someone who wore a strapless dress at all.

@MamaCate: Totally fine! I'm surprised when I hear that people still think there are restrictions on what to wear to a wedding. Unless the invitation specifies 'black tie', the options are endless. Weddings are such great fun to dress up for!
Bonus points if you're the only one in a particular style

The couple was LDS so I think some of the guests were as well which would affect style choices but I didn't know if something bigger was going on!
@HappyBaker: thanks! Just got back to my pre preg weight at 7 mos pp so I was celebrating too!
