Have you ever had to strip your LO's cloth diapers? How do you do it?
Some of LO's CD's seem to have a smell, and I'm thinking I need to strip them? I have no idea how to do that, or if there is another alternative...

I used Squeaky Pieces diaper stripper. It's made by a local mom and I got it at my local cloth diaper store. Fluff Love may have some resources about it.

I tried it with Dawn a few years ago and it worked fine but I didn't want to risk it again in my washer.
I add bleach every few months and that helps with stink!

http://www.fluffloveuniversity.com is an awesome resource! Good luck with the strip and remember if you're getting stink you may need to tweak your wash routine somehow. Lots of suggestions on that site (or I'm sure people can help here as well)!

I use vinegar and lots of rinses. I'd be afraid to use bleach. The vinegar helps if they are getting a residual poop smell, but if they smell like ammonia then tons of rinses is what you need.

@brownepiano: it's more of a light poop smell...I keep saying "did you poop?" But nothing so it clicked it's the diapers. How much vinegar?

@Bao: I think I used 1/4 cup with a large load of diapers. Hot wash + detergent.

@Bao: You have to soak your diapers in the stripper and then wash them like normal. I can send you what I have left if you want. I don't know if you can buy it online. Do you have a cloth diaper store near you?

I used the Fluff Love routine using RLR (option 3) that @ThisMustBeThePlace referenced. We had some repelling due to hard water, which fixed the problem. I had been doing an extra rinse. After the RLR strip and bleach soak, I changed up my routine, using enough detergent and no extra rinse, and haven't had any problems since. I'll second that if your wash routine is proper, you shouldn't have any smells or need to strip.
ETA: You can get RLR from Amazon for pretty cheap.

@Bao: 1/4 to 1/2 a cup. I do a regular wash and add it in with the rinse cycle. You can also add it in the fabric softener thing if you have one. Then I do an extra rinse or two. When I got to the point that I needed to strip, I also had to step up my way routine a bit after stripping. I'd add vinegar to loads every few washes, but I didn't have to do all the extra rinses.
