Some of my friends chose to get a Snap and Go stroller frame where the infant car seat snaps directly onto the frame. You will have to get another stroller later on if you go with a Snap and Go first.

We have a City Mini and used a Britax B-Safe infant seat. We bought a $20-$25 adaptor for the City Mini. The B-Safe snapped right onto it.

I went against most people's advice about the Snap and Go and started with the UB Vista as soon as he was born. It's a heavy stroller but I actually had no problem with it, and our car seat snapped directly into the frame.

I agree that it all sounds so confusing! We just started looking into strollers and carseats this week and are very overwhelmed. We tried some out at Target today and I can already tell DH is going to be very picky Looking forward to reading the rest of the responses here!

I used my stroller so so mich on the beginning and i loved having a high quality stroller instead of just a snap and go because it was so much smoother for long walks and i liked being out of the house with lo. We picked out the stroller first and then chose a seat that was compatible. We went with the britax b agile and the britax chaperone infant seat (i wish i had gotten the b safe as it is much smaller!)

ETA : they are really expensive, but for me the amount of time i spent using my stroller (several hours every day for the first 15 months until i got pregnant again and became a pitiful couch potato...but i digress ) it was more than worth it. We skipped a LOT of baby gear and buy almost everything used, but for this we splurged and i totally believe it was worth every penny.

I used our UBV with the car seat adapter for the first few months. I live in the suburbs and don't find it too heavy to take in and out of the trunk, especially if it's just the frame+adapter. I think most strollers these days come with the ability to add a car seat so I would pick which stroller you want first then see which car seats are compatible (or buy a complete system if that's what you want!)

It depends! Some people opt for the whole system in which the car seat matches the stroller is one system. Personally I opted for a less expensive umbrella stroller that has an adapter that works with my infant car seat.

we opted to splurge on the stroller from the outset, knowing we wanted more than one (probably 3 kiddos) somewhat close together. we got a city select, which is big, but we stored it in our car always since we had no garage and live in a small place. we got the car seat attachment to snap it in. we didn't have room for multiple strollers and we walk a lot of places as well as drive. it definitely was one of the most researched/talked about gear items!

there are also travel systems that come as a package with the stroller and car seat, but i wanted to be able to pick out each item for its own merits.
