I think it makes sense to wait and see what your child is like before dropping the big bucks on a stroller. I have a nephew who basically didn't want to be in his stroller once he could move on his own!

    Do your research.

There are plenty of great strollers out there that don't cost $300+. Our main stroller is a Bumbleride Flite and it was just under $200. We got a First Year Ignite for the ILs because they'll be watching LO. I think that is just under $100 but I got it on NBD for $34! You can def tell the Bumbleride is better made than the Ignite and it's more padded etc.

I belong to a few FB resale groups locally and had I known about them earlier I totally would have bought a used stroller! And personally I do not see the point of owning more than one stroller yourself. Unless it's going from one to 2 kids or for ILs as childcare.

We are in the splurge camp. That said, I don't have a car. We go EVERYWHERE with our UBV. I don't know what I'd do without it. We have a chameleon hand me down at my moms house and despite it being a splurge stroller I hate it -it's not my UBV!
I think you need to look at how you live and what your needs are. If I used a car all the time an umbrella stroller would probably do.

@Mrs. Bee: Would the Maclaren have worked for you from about 6 months or do you think you needed the City mini when your kids were smaller?

@regberadaisy: I saw you post about the Bumbleride Flite on another thread. I'm interested but I haven't been able to find one to try out and I'm hesitant to buy without trying.

Since the B-Agile is around $190 I was having trouble with the thought of spending more to get a smaller stroller. The Flite probably has everything we need though.

@Corduroy: the maclaren would have worked, but charlie napped A LOT in his stroller. And the City Mini has a great full recline which might be really helpful for some kids. Charlie actually naps great in the Maclaren though.

you really have to wait and see what your needs are. i hated the umbrella stroller because we have really bumpy brooklyn sidewalks. the handling on the city mini is so much better. but

once kids start walking, they don't even want to be in the stroller! then when they're 3ish they start wanting to sit in the stroller again.

if you're on a budget, the easiest thing for you to do is buy used and sell used for the same price. that's what we did!

Couldn't live without my UBV. Now I am think about also getting the UppaBaby G-Luxe because when LO goes to daycare, we need to use an umbrella stroller. I say if you find what you want, splurge. My stroller gets so much use, it was worth investing in.

I say mid range (ish.) I would just go by the features you want. We have a Maclaren and a Bob and dd loves to ride in her bob!

We went with a splurge and bought the UppaBaby Cruz. It is a smaller version of the UBV and has worked perfectly for us. You can purchase the bassinet now but we used it from week 1 with the infant insert and the seat reclined. It is not overwhelmingly large and is a dream to push. At 13mo old he still really likes to ride in it and it still fits him perfectly!
