Just wondering if you really need an umbrella stroller. We have a Bumbleride Indie. Since we live in a condo, the stroller is put in the car for ease of use. Sometimes, I toy with the idea of getting an umbrella stroller to make quick trips with LO to the park or the like. Do you really need an umbrella stroller or will it be baby gear clutter?

I feel like we need ours, but only for very specific situations like plane travel and crowded places (farmers' markets, etc.) where our main stroller would be too big. Maybe get an inexpensive one to start and see what you think?

We don't have one, and not having one I don't see how or when we would ever use it!

Same as above--our main stroller is a bob so while I love it for walks and hogs, it is not practical for the plane ROTC. We got a $50 ahead of a plane trip LO and I did alone and now use it for mall trips too. I feel like it has been worth it for us but it depends on your situation.

We don't have one and have never seen a use for one. Our only stroller is a Bob, so it's not small, but it's not been an issue. We babywear through airports because a stroller of any kind hasn't been necessary there; shopping we babywear or just use the Bob. I don't like umbrella strollers and was not inclined to ever use one for a variety of reasons and we have never needed one.

We have a large jogging stroller as our main stroller, so we also bought our umbrella stroller for airplane travel and other crowded locations. DD *loves* all strollers, and the umbrella stroller has definitely saved us on multiple occasions.

I use ours regularly - for walking LO to playgroup (so I can leave it downstairs without worrying) and for travel (we fly often), since my bugaboo is on the big side to manage if LO and I are traveling without another adult. We live in a big city though, so we don't have the car trunk option for our "main" stroller. If we bring it somewhere, we are stick with it. For that reason it is nice to have the option of bringing a lighter stroller when we don't know where the day might lead.
If you do get one, I think it's worth investing in a nice umbrella stroller (we have a maclaren) - your LO will be more comfortable, and you'll be happier using it. I think if my umbrella were hard to push or (sorry if this is vain) really unattractive, I would use it less. I like it, so it gets used and pays for itself. My feeling was always that a cheapie would not hold up, so we'd end up buying several and not saving any money anyway.

I like ours because it stays in my car. Our other stroller is a jogging stroller and is too large to fit well in my car. With the umbrella stroller, I have one for when I need to dash about with LO.

I went almost a year and a half without one, but for travelling, it is way better to have one. It was invaluable to us for plane travel (I was by myself, so carry-on bags on the stroller, baby in the carrier).

We got a lighter stroller (Kolcraft Contours, not quite an umbrella) for traveling and because we were going to be trying for a second baby soon and our usual stroller is too heavy for me to lift in and out of the car while pregnant. I really love it for tight spaces and really crowded areas. We keep the umbrella in the car now and our regular stroller in the garage, and switch them out as needed.

Oh, such good advice about the umbrella stroller. DH is okay with getting one and being able to store it in our condo easily, thinking coat closet. Our Bumbleride is a bit big and unwieldy, but has been great for long walks around the neighborhood.
DH mentioned when he was at O'Hare, he saw bigger strollers, not smaller ones. When we visited his parents, we used a Snap N Go with our car seat. I just don't see hauling our big Bumbleride through the terminal. My brother did it, so maybe I'll ask about it.
I just think having a smaller stroller for quick trips could be useful. I was thinking of getting of getting one that was blogged about here, can't remember the name offhand.

I use a city mini. I actually got a free umbrella stroller at babies r us last week. It's still all wrapped up. I can't see a use for it yet!
