We picked up a used pair of Saltwater sandals yesterday. Here's my stupid question - are they made for wearing in water - like on water play days - or is that just their name? They look so nice, I can't imagine they would do well in water, considering they have leather bands. Do you let your kids play in water in them?

We try not to get them wet because they are leather but if it happens, they hold up really well.

We don't use them as water shoes. If they get a little wet no big deal but I don't put them on her for stuff like the splash pad.

I'm so surprised by the previous responses! They are designed to be water shoes and my daughter wore hers all summer in the water with no issues!

@Trailmix: I agree! They're meant to be water shoes. They actually mold to your feet if you get them wet/wear them wet. I still like Keens over Saltwaters for a lot of outdoor play because they're closed toe, but definitely don't be afraid to get them wet!

I agree that they are meant to be worn in the water. I have a couple pairs and I wear them in the water all summer. They hold up amazingly well! I've had my pairs for a few years and they still look pretty good.

They are definitely designed to be worn in the water! I have two pairs myself and wear them in the water at the beach. They dry perfectly fine afterwards!

They are meant to be worn in the water and actually soften up after getting wet so they are more comfy for the littles. We have used them at the splash pad, beach etc and they hold up well! We are on our 3rd paid in a year because of having to resize so you better believe we are getting our money's worth!

They get better after being worn in the water. They soften and mold to your feet.

They soften up and shape your feet after being in water... The company actually recommends it to make them more comfortable.
I use mine to walk the sandbars at the ocean all the time and so does DD. They are still like new!
