Will your LO be participating in any summer reading programs/challenges? Our library has one for babies up to teens and I'm going to sign the girls up, for something to do. I'm not exactly sure how it works yet but I know they have prizes for each age group.

Our library has one - they read every day and then come in on Saturday or Sunday - they get a raffle ticket (for a prize at the very end) they can put in one of the boxes and each Sunday they get to take home a free book (used)

I signed DD up for ours. I think if we read a certain number of books to her she gets a board book and a certificate at the end of the summer.

Yes, ours has two different programs. My son is doing the one where he reads 20 minutes (or about 2 picture books) and colors in a picture. After a certain amount of pictures colored he gets a prize. There are 3 levels of that, plus a bonus level of reading 25 hours (150 books) for a free zoo pass. The infant program has three levels with reading but also activities, like "play patty cake" and each completed level earns a prize. For both, the final prize is a book to keep.
I loved summer reading as a kid and hope my kids do to!

Our library does it, you get a raffle ticket for every 10 or 20 books you read, I think? Maybe next summer when she's older and will "get it" more. I couldn't deal with the thought of keeping track this summer.
