Do you or your SO swear either regularly or when you get mad? Do you try to tame it down around the kids or do you struggle because other people in your kids lives swear and you can't stop them from doing it?

I do, and I'm pretty good about subbing in better words when I'm around the kids (and sometimes when I'm around adults, too). Like sugar instead of shit, for example. E's definitely heard me curse, though (in the car, getting cut off or almost crashed into, mostly). I am bad about saying "Oh Jesus Christ!" to myself sometimes, and occasionally E will drop something and say "Oh Cheezit Christ!"

I never swear. I just never have and it sounds so foreign coming out of my mouth. Even when I was in labor I was screaming "shoot" and "freak" lol!
My brother swears all the time. It annoys me when he is around the kids because I obviously don't want them to pick it up, but I see him so rarely it's not a terribly huge deal.

I do cuss. But not around my kids. My mom has a mouth like a sailor and she forgets herself. I have a hard time stopping her.

I swear and I try really hard not to swear in front of the kids, but I definitely have slips up. Xander's always telling me "That's a bad word, Mama!" And I've heard him drop the f-bomb...

I used to a lot! Now I really try not too but it's difficult especially when I'm late and stressed! My SO does though and I make a point to let him know that he's done it again. But he's working on it! Sadly other people around us do and I hope he doesn't pick it up there!

Nope! Neither of us swear to begin with.
It's funny tho b/c DD is the one that curses when she says clock, truck or similar words slightly off...

I mean I am not a saint but me and DH rarely swear and definitely don't say anything around DD even Shut up sucks to me are swear words for a kid
My DH's family swear literally every other word, so it is hard they have got much better, but MIL will say Sh*t and we will give her a look and she says that isn't a swear word, well maybe not to an adult but I do not want my 2 yr old saying it........

When I hurt myself...I can't help it sometimes. It just slips out and is my knee-jerk reaction when I bang my elbow or head really hard. It doesn't happen often, so I'm hoping he hasn't picked up on it yet. My littlest is only 13 months, so he doesn't understand yet.
We're very big on LO1 not saying, "Oh my God." I tell him that it's "oh my gosh" or "oh my goodness." We're religious, and it's just something I don't want him getting into the habit of. Of course, everyone else says it and I let him know it's not something we say.

I rarely swear around lo except it comes out when I'm really, really mad or frustrated. Like after she stalls for over an hour I might say "it's time for bed, close your d*** eyes!" She knows they're bad words too and will say "don't talk to me like that mama" oops!
My mom has a sailor's mouth and slips around lo, especially if there are sports on tv...I feel like it's one thing to rarely swear in the heat of the moment, and another for like everyday things like that.

I definitely used to swear way too much, so I still have the occasional slip up. It's a work in progress now that DS is old enough to pick words up.

I swear like a sailor when not around DD. When around her I don't. I do say "oh gosh" "oh goodness" and the one that I shouldn't say "oh god" around her. She also says all three and we try to curtail the oh god's though. She thinks "stupid" is a bad word. Whenever we say it she scolds us.
DH swears more often around her but not a LOT. I give him the "look" but so far she hasn't picked up that he's saying bad words....

I do regularly, but not when I'm mad so it's just randomly thrown into my conversations. My husband does rarely and it's when he's mad about something. I haven't really around her since she has gotten older. She's still little (1) but I know it's going to be more important soon. When I worked at daycare I used to say "crumbs" . Sometimes kids would say it too. Haha

@yellowbird: Same here, but my husband does. He's really cognizant about not doing it around the kids though. My SIL in the other hand...

I am by no means perfect, but I do drop an f-bomb now and then, especially when I am really stressed or running late.
I am of the opinion that kids absorb what you're saying at all ages, so I do watch my language.

I try to curb it especially when driving... I get terrible road rage and i tend to yell out horribly creative name calling words. Now i call the cars dumb-dumbs and i try not to reference the people in them.

I try really hard not to. I don't swear that much anyway and I've gotten into the habit of saying "eff" instead of the actual word most of the time.

I probably am the one with more of a potty mouth, but I try super hard to watch it around the kids since they are such little parrots.

DH pulled me aside and said I swear too much around our friends kids. But it's stuff like crap. DD is just getting to the repeating stage.
I'm fine with whatever besides gratuitous use of the F word.
