I'm guilty of swearing in front of my kids every so often. lesser swears like heck, hell, frickin. but still - I try not to!
my 3 year old has repeated frickin (although only with "frickin fly" so I think she thinks that's what they're called?!) and the other night, as I was getting her into bed, I noticed her sheets were damp. I told her she had to tell me in the morning when they were wet so I could change them and she sighed and said "what the hell."
I just said "that's not nice" and ignored it. I don't know if making a big deal would work because then she may say it more!! haha. she hasn't said it since though..
does your LO drop swears? how do you handle it?
so this has definitely come up with our 3 year old DS. Our approach is to tell him that certain words are "grown up words" and are not to be used by kids. He actually is pretty cool with that and when he says a word, we just remind him it is a "grown up word" and he moves on.
