Hi everyone. We're about to take our 3-month-old to LA to visit the grandparents, and they have a pool. Our little one has never been in the water aside from bath time, and we would love to take him swimming.
What do you recommend we get for him to wear in the water while he's still so small? I looked online, and it seems like many disposable swim diapers only come in larger sizes.

Huggies little swimmers ome in size small. I think it's for 15 pounds and up. They can be hard to find in stores o. Old just order online nd ship them to th grandparents house.

DD is 6 months and just going to size 2 diapers now, so all the swim daipers were way to big for her so I bought a Bummis Swimmi diaper and it's awesome

I don't cloth daiper, but this little guy has been awesome, fits great and holds in the poop like a champ. And the small was small enough for my little peanut even at 8lbs.

We use iPlay re-usable swim diapers. They are super cute, fit well, and have a little bit of absorbency for before you get into the pool.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. After I posted, I looked more online and found Applecheeks Swim Diapers. Small goes from 7-20 lbs. Our boy is maybe about 12 lbs now and just went up to size 2 diapers. I'm guessing we won't use this much now, so I'm hoping by buying it, he'll be able to wear it next summer..... I'm going to look at your other recommendations before pushing "purchase," though!

We love love love our Applecheeks swim diaper! I like that it's mesh so it keeps solids in (very good elastic) but doesn't get heavy and soggy like other ones I've tried (No absorbency, however). Toddler Girl wore the size one for over a year.

Does anyone also have a recommendation for small UV protectant shirt to go with the diaper?
ETA: I just bought an i play shirt. Hopefully it will do the trick!

@Mrs. Superhero: We can put it on him outside, so I don't think the lack of absorbency would be a problem in this context. Do you think we should look for something more absorbant?

I see you've figured it all out, but I did want to add that we use our normal pocket cloth diapers for the swimming. I even got good at pulling the pocket stuff out while he's still wearing it, so we could wear it as a normal diaper down to the beach (no fears of peeing on the stroller) and then just pull the pocket stuffer out for swimming. BG 4.0 all the way! (But of course you need a dry diaper for the way home).

@cvbee: I would say that's good for the beach (I've done it too) but I wouldn't subject my nice cloth diapers to chlorine on a regular basis.

I guess you've figured it out, but I would add that we use an Imse Vimse swim diaper that's been great, if you need an idea for something else in the future. (Previously had a Bummis, but the velcro started rubbing his stomach once he got more active).

@pregnantbee: good point! We only do lake swimming, but I'll have to remember that if we ever do end up at a pool: totally wouldn't have thought about the impact of the chlorine.

Come on nice weather! I am thinking about taking LO swimming (indoors!). She loves her baths, and we will be at the lake lots this summer. Needing to think about what she'll wear! Awesome to not think about snow suits, dreadful to think about me in a bathing suit tho!

@Beebug: Sadly, we've only been able to go once bc LO was sick so often this winter. Just as we were going on a month of health, he now has another cold. So, I'm sad that he only wore his swim shirt (6 mo) once and is 9.5 mo now! I'm hoping the swim diaper still fits!
