If/when you take your children swimming, what precautions do you take? I know this is weird but we use saline nose spray as soon as we get home, my mom always had us do it too 
Not sure it does anything but it helps me think we get extra germs out.

Shower before we get into the pool, shower when we leave the pool...other than that, nothing.

Maybe ear drops if we go swimming a few days in a row. I have no idea about nose sprays.
Honestly I think I might be more concerned swimming in a lake or body of water compared to a public pool.

Public pools should have enough chlorine that the germs get killed. Plus saline isn't antibacterial or antiviral?

We shower to get the chlorine off our skin/hair and that's it.

Nothing! Though my toddler started a gym and swim class in November and has been sicker since then than every before. Maybe I should spray her when she gets home!

I come from the philosophy that some germ exposure is good for the immune system. I wouldn't have thought to do anything extra.

We rinse after the pool if it's super chlorinated like our community pool but other than that, nothing.

We try to remember to wash his hair that night, does that count? I can't imagine anything could survive in that much chlorine.

We shower afterward, more because I don't think it's good to have that much chlorine on your skin and hair for very long than because of germs. I'd think squirting saline up your nose would actually push any germs further up, making it more likely to get sick.

Just a bath that night! But hey, we all have our things - I mean, I wipe lo's feet with antibacterial wipes in the car after gymnastics class

Ha, it never occurred to me to do anything except shower/bathe after. When I was a camp counselor, we put ear drops in too, but I don't with my own kid (or myself) and have never had an issue. But really, I came here to post this article which made me think of this thread. I still love public pools though!
