DS has a growing hatred with being strapped into things...especially his carseat. I haven't switched him to a convertible since he's 9.5 months (I would rear-face him until at least a year), but I was wondering if switching him to a less cramped seat might help. Anyone switched out of an infant carrier before a year old?

Way before a year. I think we fully transitioned LO by the time he was 7 months, but he's always been a big guy. So, there's a chance your LO might be more comfy in a RF convertible by this point.

Yes! We did around the same age. My kids are 100000000x happier in their convertible seats. They have so much more room. In their radians, and DS will actually sleep in the car again!

I think this kind of seals the deal for me then! His is kind of a little guy, less than 20 lbs and about 5-10%ile for weight/height....I just can't stand the sound of him screaming anymore when I strap him in the carrier!

We switched at 10 months. LO is pretty small, and fit fine into her infant seat. And she was fairly happy in it, but she's much happier in the convertible!

We just switched at 7 months old, mainly because we're giving the infant seat to my sister.

@matador84: BabyGloss just had her 9 month checkup (even though we're so close to 10 months). She weighed in at 17lbs 9oz.

@MsLipGloss: pretty close to my DS! I bet that is about what he weighs now. He had his on the 8th and was 16 lbs 8 oz. @Mrs. Yoyo: @MerryC: @Weagle: @hilsy85: ok so this might be a dumb question...i've mainly held out on the infant carrier because he falls asleep when i pick him up from daycare and then we go run errands. so...i guess i just have to wake him up now that he's in the convertible, huh? (am i a FTM or what!?)

@matador84: yup, you won't be able to take the convertible in and out -- no bases

@matador84: yeah, you have to take him out of the seat, but you could just babywear for errands and he may transfer fine and still sleep or at least doze.

Yep we switched around 15 lbs when he was 4.5 months or so. He was much happier in it.

she loooves her "big girl" seat! she puts all her toys in the cupholders.

I put the infant carrier away for good this morning! can't wait to take him out in his big boy carseat!

We switched at 8 or 9 months b/c DD was getting close to the height limits on the seat.

We switched at 5 months because she was getting so heavy. For the most part I'm really glad we switched, but it does stink when LO is asleep and you have to take them out of the car.
