@Mrs. Chipmunk: Oh yes... Kinder surprise. The border guards at Blaine are specifically trained to ask for those and you can have them confiscated/be fined. It is strange how vigilant they are about making sure the US has no Kinder surprise.

This article is kind of old but it makes you wonder what their priorities are. Drugs, weapons annnnnnnnnnnd Kinder surprise.

@californiadreams: Nanaimo bars were invented in the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island BC! There is only one true recipe, you should try it out! (I'm from Nanaimo, in case you couldn't tell.. Haha)

I had no idea that Canada had so many things that other countries don't. Whenever I go to the US (or my home country), I always stock up on the things we can't get here and then get depressed because it feels like we get nothing here.

@Mrs. Chipmunk: you don't have glossettes?? Whaaaaaaaaaaaa? Glossettes are some of my absolute FAVOURITE. I have also never seen Canadian wintergreen before! What are those! LOL

@Mamaof2: Those are rockets to us, we only have them around Halloween time!

@Freckles: @mrsh: @cmomma17: dill pickle chips are pretty common in the US South. They sell Lays brand in all the grocery stores around here.

I lived in the US for over two years (WNY) and was thankfully close enough to the border that I could come back to Canada for my fixes. Nestle is a big candy manufacturer in Canada, although as many have mentioned, the parent company is in the UK. I love Smarties and Aero bars and would stock up on my monthly trips to Canada.

I also found that a lot of familiar food products tasted different in the US. Heinz ketchup and Pepsi/Coke were just a couple. The reason is the substitution of corn syrup for sucrose in these products, the result of lobbying for the farming industry.

    ALRIGHT!!

So here's what we have so far:
Chips - all dressed, dill pickle, ketchup
    Mack's Toffee
    Maple Cookies
    Double Stuf Oreos
    Glosettes
    Aero
    Coffee Crisp
    Mr. Big
    Smarties
    Rockets
    Caramilk
Kit Kat - White Chocolate, Orange
    Fuzzy peaches
    Kinder Surprise
    Oops and Mars Bars

Still to get: little maple syrups (apparently I used all of ours) and maple candies which normally are only in stores in the Spring, but I have a friend with a sugar shack

@LindsayInNY: HAHA totally! I would have to make sure I can send it by mail, otherwise the next trip I have to the US I'll pack it and send it from USPS. This trip I have double of that to carry with me so I'm pretty packed up!
