I need some help! Little M (23m) started potty training about a month ago. He had been going pee on his potty before bath for almost a year and was telling me when he needed to go, so we went for it. Things are going pretty well, except for in the evening.
He really wants to make his poops on the potty and we haven't had a day accident yet. But for as long as I can remember, when he wakes up in the morning he has a poop in his diaper. I just assumed this was an early morning issue. But now it looks like it's an evening issue and he sleeps in poop all night (yuck!) The problem is that it does forever for him to poop before bed. I've moved his bath time up by 30 mins and even do his books on the potty but it can take 1-1.5 hours of driving trucks around and around and around on my legs before he finally poops. If I try to get him up sooner, he has a fit and then ends up waking up in the morning with a poopy pull-up. (using undies during the day and pull-ups at night)
I don't know what to do. On one had I want to encourage him to poop on the potty and if he needs to go, I don't want to get him up. But on the other hand I can't let him delay bed time for hours and the sitting on the cold floor playing trucks is wearing on me. To make matters worse, he barely talks so there's no way he can tell me he still needs to poop (or poop more).
Any ideas, thoughts, or advice for me?
