We purchased an Ergo based on me reading thousands of reviews...I haven't tried it out yet so I can't give you any firsthand advice. It's supposed to be one of the most comfortable and supportive, and should work well for a 6 month old. If you do go for an Ergo, you can usually get them from nobetterdeal.com or Baby Steals (I think certain colors are available in the archives).

I have the beco gemini, and l-o-v-e it.

Just used it for two extended periods with LO through airports over holidays too! DH and I both love wearing it, and it's so comfy! Easy to put on/off solo, too! LO is just about 11w, we've only used the front carry, we carry her facing in, or out, depends on what we're doing -she loves facing out! Can't wait to try hip and back carries!

I wanted an ergo, but the price tag held me back. I ended up getting a mei tai carrier from an etsy seller for $30 and really love it! DH thinks it's goofy the way you have to tie it each time, but I don't mind and really like how versatile it can be. I started putting E in it around 4 months so that I could use it when we flew with him at 6 months. He did really well and I loved it in the airport. We were gifted an infantino swift, but E really hated it and I didn't like how it didn't support him under his butt.

For what you are describing, I would go with the Ergo. Easy and comfortable.

Another Ergo vote! I've worn it for 4+ hours with out any issues.

I've used it in hot weather and yes, it does get warm (but so would any soft carrier where your baby is against you).

We got the ergo and I LOVE it. I wore LO when she was 5 months all day at the state fair with no issues. I am also busty and chunky, and we are both very comfortable in it. I would recommend it while standing in line, and then the stroller for LO to wiggle more. The ergo is very confining for LO's.

My best recommendation is to go into a store where u can try different ones. That's how we figured out what fit baby and our needs.

We chose it because i needed something that was breathable since DD and DH temp runs on the warm side. Also because I'm busty and shorter so i needed something adjustable

We like it because she can face forward or towards me (for naps). U can also adjust how low or high u want to carry baby.

The most we've used it was for 4 straight hrs at a city fair and she was happy in it.

We have the Ergo. I've also heard great things about the Beco Gemini as well. For a baby as big as yours (i.e. not a newborn anymore) I would definitely go with something that puts the weight on your hips, so that you don't experience back pain. The Ergo is super easy to use. We got the Ergo sport, and you might want to as well, since it is lighter weight and has fabric that might allow a bit more air circulation. I'm guessing it will be hot when you're in Disney, and it can definitely get warm in any baby carrier.

At 6 months, I love the Ergo so much. I never figured out the Moby wrap. The Ergo feels good on and holds the baby in nice and snug. I would definitely walk around Disney with my 6 month old in the Ergo!!

Go somewhere that you can see them in person! I had a sling which my LO hated.

Through a moms group I looked at a Moby and a few others and got to try on an Ergo. I loved it and LO (although not used to it) liked it. So that is what we went with!

We have an Ergo, Boba wrap, and Infantino Swift. At 7 months LO likes to look around so we got the Infantino Swift (only $15!) for DH to use so she can look out. He's walked around with it for an hour or so and didn't have much of a problem but I don't think I could wear it that long. I used the Boba mainly when she was a colicky newborn. I've used it a few times recently but don't think I could do it for long periods because of the stress it puts on the low back. The Ergo is the most comfortable. The straps are nice and padded and the lumbar support is nice. It's probably what we'd use if we were going to Disneyland.

I have the Bjorn and Ergo and love my Ergo much, much more. We only use the Bjorn at home when we need to be hands free b/c it's not usually for a long time. Bjorn is better when baby is smaller but not as comfortable when they are heavier. Both are super easy to put on though.

I have three carriers: Ergo, Babyhawk Mei Tai, and Moby

Moby: Great for the newborn phase but there is so much fabric! It's such a hassle to get on and off. My least favorite of all the carriers but I am keeping it for no. 2 because it was great for the first two months.

Babyhawk Mei Tai: Of the three carriers I own, this is the most light weight. It will fold up nicely and fit in a diaper bag. It's fantastic quality but it does have two long straps that will drag on the ground if you're putting it on outside. For some reason LO doesn't care for this carrier very much. He becomes whiney within 45 mins of being in the Mei Tai.

Ergo: Ah, my holy grail carrier! I love this carrier and so does my husband. It's all that and a bag of chips (I have this one btw http://store.ergobaby.com/Baby_Carriers/Options/BCC001CCPM). I purchase mine on Babysteals for $90 after s/h. I love how easily it snaps into place! I love how there are pockets in the front. If I am using my Ergo I slip my keys, wallet and phone into the front pocket. LO loves being in the Ergo!! LO's weight is evenly distributed across my body and the padded shoulder straps really help. I would've happily paid full price for this item. It's THAT good!

I love, love, love our beco Gemini. I bought a second one just recently. I can back carry, hip carry, face her forward or facing me and she loves it too. They are organic and American made + soft and DD likes the skin to skin contact. It's really functional for different body types. I'd suggest trying it out! It also holds up to 35 pounds so I have even put my 3.5 year old in it!

In the early days, I used the Moby. When he got a little older, I started using the Bjorn. He won't face inward - wants to see the world - so the Ergo would never have worked for us.

My MIL just gifted us a Kokopax backpack carrier (I didn't know about this carrier beforehand). I love it. It's light, comfortable, and can carry a baby of up to like 30 lbs, so seems good for long term use. My 7 month old is small (15 lbs) but it was very easy to carry him (and he fell asleep in it, which he never does in other carriers).

Love our ergos. Hubby thought babywearing was totally weird at first, but the ergos have him sold. So easy to take on and off with the buckles, and the straps are really nicely padded. We wear them for hours at a time in the ergos. At their current size (17 lbs at 5.5 mo), I don't use a wrap carrier (we have a ktan) outside of the house.

I have tons of carriers. I love the sling my mom bought me when I was in the hospital having DS. I also recently got a Moby wrap. I stick to slings and wraps because we are concerned about Hip Dysplasia. DS is almost 3 months and loves the sling!
