I prefer Target but there isn't one in my new town. Wah.

I hate Walmart. Now that I love in the city instead of rural KY, I go to Target all the time. I actually have to go out of my way to go to Walmart.

All I have is Walmart. I got to make an hour drive to the closest target.

Target. I haven't set foot in a Walmart in years. I said I'd never go back after the last time, in which a woman in line with me asked if I wanted to feel the bullet in her arm where her husband shot her. Nope.

i'll go...but I don't like it.
I actually don't go to Target that much either to be honest. I shop on Amazon a lot and do my groceries at a straight up grocery store.
I get most of my baby stuff on diapers.com or something like that with free shipping and coupon code.

@Danizaur: An hour and a half for me. Boo.
@BananaPancakes: um, what?

Target, I coupon, so with their store coupons, product coupons and cartwheel, it's cheaper than Walmart anyway.

Target all the way! i love target. i go at least 2 times a week, sometimes just to go ha

We have only had target here for a couple months, but I prefer it to walmart.

Target! I don't venture out to Walmart unless there is a super online deal. In that case, I'll usually have it shipped instead of store pickup.

Target! I avoid Walmart unless it's like 3am and we need something that can't wait until morning.

Target is preferred, but sometimes we go to wal mart if we want to be amazed at how low our bill is. Seriously it is way cheaper. Partly because they just don't carry a lot of what we want to buy.

@winniebee: un-nice like the one in Framingham? lol
We do Target because its two buildings over from us. When we lived in NY there was a great Walmart, great vegetarian items & produce, great prices on household products.

@TurtleDoves: I love diapers.com and amazon! I also like buying handmade goods from etsy sellers. I use to not enjoy online shopping. I wanted to have my things immediately upon purchase but ever since I had a baby, online shopping has been so convenient!

Target for sure! Shopping at Walmart is never pleasant for me, the parking lot is filled up with long checkout lines.

Lol, as always, I am the only Walmart girl. Prices, people. PRICES.

@mediagirl: I'm with you! Unfortunately, there aren't really any Wal-Marts nearby. I used to go to wal-mart all the time when I was growing up, but now when I go back, I find it...depressing?

@BananaPancakes: thanks for giving me a case of the giggles. That is one crazy encounter.
I am definitely a target person, but am so hooked on amazon that I don't go nearly as often as I used to now that we are done with formula.

I asked this a few weeks ago.
Depends what I'm buying. Walmart for camping stuff like propane, or a crate pad mattress for puppy. Target for shower curtains, tablecloths, etc. But like some others have said Amazon is my first choice.

Target. I stopped shopping at Walmart after reading Nickle and Dimed and various articles about how they treat their employees. Haven't set foot in Walmart in over 10 years. I shop a ton on Amazon, which I'm torn about now after reading some not-so-nice stories about how they treat their warehouse workers.

Target all the way. All of the WalMart's I've ever been in always strike me as dirty and grungy. I'm also not a fan of their business practices. I only shop at Target.
grapefruit / 4800 posts
Target but I rarely go there either.
I don't get why people say Walmart has such good prices though, http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/07/news/companies/walmart_target_better_price/index.htm .
I guess for one stop shopping for everything in your house but if you really are bargain shopping neither place is the way to go, and for groceries at least around where I live target and walmart are both a lot more expensive than shopping at a grocery store.

I do shop at Walmart for some things because I have to - its cheap and beggars can't be choosers.
BUT, I strongly prefer Target, both for the shopping experience and in how they treat their employees. And quality - I really like Target's house stuff and some of their clothes.

@mediagirl: a few reasons...
1. Their employee practices - poor pay, outrageously expensive health care, non-union (see this article http://www.pbs.org/itvs/storewars/stores3.html)
2. They are corporate bullies (http://m.fastcompany.com/47593/wal-mart-you-dont-know)
3. They have the power to do so much good (environmental standards, change public policy) but instead they ship jobs overseas and only do what's best for them
ETA: sorry, writing this half asleep and on my phone. I can do more research for you in the AM

@luckypenny: The employee practices I can back up - DH worked there back a few years ago before we were married and it is horrible. The didn't even give him legally mandated breaks. He got a lunch break and that was it - on a 10-12 hour shift some days.
He was employee of the month, worked there for a long time, and never got a raise. He made minimum wage even though he worked his tail off and came home wiped out.
They were also told flat out that if an employee was overheard talking about unions, they would be let go.

I love Target! Walmart scares me. In my experience, that People of Walmart blog doesn't lie.
