Is your state having a tax-free weekend soon? My state is having a tax-free weekend right before back to school in August. Typically it includes things like backpacks, clothes, shoes, sports equipment, and other school supplies. I have shopped a few of these but it's madness! However, I know some parents wait until this weekend to get any of their kids' back to school supplies and clothes. What about you? Planning to shop your tax-free weekend?

SC is...And DH and I were trying to figure out if the french door fridge we're about to buy could qualify, but it's looking like computers are the only big electric items that qualify.
And there is a pair of really nice sandals I've been eying at Billy Reid and hubs says we can get them this weekend:). Score:)

MN is one of the very few states left that doesn't have clothing tax at all - I love it! But the governor has talked about implementing it, boo.

My mom always took us school shopping on tax free weekend. My state has one, but we don't have anything we need to buy. So I will be skipping it.

Ours is coming up and I doubt I will hit the mall. Its just too crazy.

@MrsBrewer: I know! It's awesome! Especially with the MOA. I think it's a huge reason the MOA is such a desirable shopping location. I think if our governor implemented clothing tax it would negatively affect the economy of MN for that reason alone!

@Mrs. Pen: I know, every time we have this weekend, I'm reminded of those awesome states like MA and MN apparently who don't have clothing tax at all! It's an awesome feeling to just pay the price on the tag without anything extra added at check out!

Tax free weekend...? This sounds awesome, but I've never heard of it! I don't think we have those in Canada.

We're probably going to buy a new external harddrive to backup all our important stuff.
We don't need clothes/shoes/etc. at the moment (and neither does LO as tempting as it may be) so hopefully this will allow us to avoid all the crazy busy sales. -
I live in TX, too, but I think I'll skip the rush on that weekend and shop before hand. If you think about it, you're not really saving *that* much... $8 every $100... definitely not enough incentive for me to be out there w/ all the crazies lol.

@BabyBoecksMom: I agree.. it's not a huge incentive at all. However, I'm thinking that some of the stores will offer additional discounts to lure the shoppers. Still, I'm not planning to shop since I've done enough damage to last me a while as of late

One of the kids clothing resale shops is having one this weekend. I'm not sure if it is a state thing though as they are the only ones I've heard doing it.

I have never heard of a tax-free weekend before!! I agree that it's not really much incentive; its always nice to save money but sales tax doesn't/wouldn't impact my shopping habits. I do live about an hour from New Hampshire, where there is no sales tax and a lot of people go there for big shopping trips.

I don't think we have one here in WA. We could just go into OR if we wanted tax free shopping. It's about 3 hours away for me, though.

We have no tax in Oregon, which is pretty awesome!! When we travel, I get annoyed about having to pay it.

I live in MA and there's no tax on clothing and shoes, I guess what they deem necessities, all the time, but we do have a tax free weekend coming up for anything. Furniture stores are already running double your tax back promos and stuff. It's INSANE at the mall at the Tiffany, LV, etc where things don't go on sale. But just over the border in NH, no tax on anything. Lots of people go just over the border to buy TVs, appliances, and stuff like that.

We have these in VA. One for back to school stuff and then another (I forget which month) where it's all emergency related items that qualify (like generators, batteries, bottled water, etc.). We won't participate this month, my stepkids don't need school supplies and we're sticking to a tight budget this month.

Ours (Oklahoma) is this weekend! It's always crazy around here when it's going on! I wouldn't normally go unless there is something in particular I have been wanting. I wonder if purses qualify...
