Normally we would go to a couple parades, which are all cancelled due to Covid. We will go to some fireworks nearby, put on by a private association, so not a ton of people and we stay in/near our vehicles.
It will be hot this weekend so might try and go to a friend's creek to play. I thought about tie-dying some shirts for fun (but am scared of the mess, lol!)
Other than that, nothing planned this year.

All of the official fireworks in our area are cancelled. So we are going to have a living room picnic and watch them on tv! DD has only been allowed to eat in the living room once or twice so it will be a treat for her.
Will probably do a socially distant lunch outside with my mom and stepdad one day. It that’s pretty much it. I would love to go to the lake or beach but the crowds have been picking up. And I worry about the bathrooms.

We are just staying home. All fireworks shows have been cancelled in my area (not that we would have gone anyway).
We plan on spending the weekend barbecuing, playing outside and maybe going for a long bike ride.

We're staying home, probably cooking out and then letting the kids watch fireworks on tv. My five year old wants to set up her own parade down our street with a wagon and her stuffed animals, so we'll probably humor her with that in the morning.
I actually hate going to see fireworks in person (so many mosquitoes!), so I'm kind of excited to stay in for that part of the day!

We don't have anything planned really. My parents are going to come over to swim tomorrow, but that's about it. They watch my 3 month old so we see them regularly anyway.
Other than that, probably just stay home like every other weekend. I might get some sparklers or something as my 4 year old might like those this year (or maybe not, I was always afraid of them as a kid lol) I'm bummed we can't/won't be going to see fireworks - we don't normally anyway, but again, I think my older daughter would've really liked them! I've heard there are a few places putting on fireworks but a lot of the major spots have cancelled.

We'll be cleaning up our inflatable pool tomorrow so we can enjoy that over the weekend. Then we have just an at-home solo afternoon bbq planned - maybe we'll eat outside but it's so hot already that's unlikely. I want to make a fancy treat too, thinking homemade ice cream
Tentative plans to buy some kid-friendly fireworks to set off at home, with TV fireworks to enjoy in the evening.
And, we might use the long weekend to do some bathroom painting if I can get a color picked out finally!

@caitcat: Aw, the parade sounds super cute! Reminds me of dd the other day riding around in her 12V car waving at pretend people, lol.
@lindseykaye: Homemade ice cream would be so fun!

There is a local fireworks display that is viewable from surrounding parking lots so we are planning to watch from our car and bring treats. I bought some sparklers and food for grilling out. DS has a birthday at the end of the month and my SIL sent him an inflatable pool that we may open up early.

Got sparklers new chalk bubbles and water balloons for the kiddo. Just planning to grill (highly recommended beyond meat burgers anyone is interested!), and eat some spiked popsicles (thank you Cosco). For better or worse nearly every night of the summer you can see (and hear) at least a few fireworks from our house ...

@wrkbrk: ooooh ready-made spiked popsicles? I've resisted CostCo membership thus far but that could be a selling point for me!!

@PinkElephant: YES! They’re the kind in the plastic sleeve like the cheapie kiddo ones but.....like frozen cocktails! I don’t have a membership either but I put the word out with friends when I discovered them in an ad

@wrkbrk: eeek! Is it weird that the cheapie Fla-Vor-Ice packaging makes me even more enthralled with these?! I actually saw "sleeves" for making that sort of popsicle at my grocery store...I may have to pick some up this weekend and DIY it! What are the flavors?
OP, sorry to de-rail your original thread We kicked the weekend off today with a day-trip to the beach, and now will be sticking close to home in our pool and grilling, backyard camp one night, stay up and catch fireflies...maybe a short hike if we get a random cooler day. No scheduled fireworks, but a family in our town owns one of the state's largest fireworks businesses, so I'm hoping there will be some impromptu fireworks to supplement the sparklers I bought. We also got some cool (weird) stuff that changes the color of a campfire, so we'll probably throw that in the fire pit at some point to amuse the kids.

@PinkElephant: Haha yes! Flavor Ice! I knew those had a name . Flavors are like cosmo, raspberry lemonade, apple tini, lemon drop if I’m recalling correctly. Definitely worth a try. They are not very strong but still yummy.
