Interesting. Both my husband and I attended public colleges at two different states. We both had to provide immunization records before classes began. I wonder if that's the same for other states or even private colleges.

Since teachers must be college educated, I would think they are immunized, but maybe not at all.

Except for the flu shot - I am, but I've never been asked about it. I did have to provide shot records to go to college, though.

Yes, I am and I have to have proof of vaccinations on file at the start of every school year. Flu shot is not a requirement (but I always get it!).

I'm not a teacher, but a physician, and for medical school, residency and my jobs I've had to have titers to show proof of immunity for MMR and varicella (proof of disease didn't even suffice for my current job!) in addition to my vax records, as well as an up to date PPD. Whenever I see patients I assume if they work in healthcare (or teaching! but I guess not) it's the same but I'm finding more and more people (like dental assistance for example) that didn't have any of these requirements, which I find odd when you're at risk of blood borne diseases transmitted as an occupational hazard.

@MenagerieMama: i'm a dental hygienist and we had to have proof we were up to date to start school (including TB) and had to provide our records annually while enrolled.

@MenagerieMama: that is horrifying! i hope it's the exception. i'm in ontario and there are (were) A LOT of private schools for hygiene... not sure if their regulations are as strict but i sincerely hope each practitioner is careful!

@lady baltimore: Canadian bee here. I am vaccinated and when I was hired by my board I had to complete a 'medical' (sheet saying I was physically fit to perform the duties of a teacher) for them to keep on file, as well as TB test. I don't remember having to show a vaccination record, I did when I worked daycare though.
The flu shot however is not required.
