Has anyone started teaching their LO about strangers and stranger safety? I was thinking about this subject this morning when we went on a walk to the park. We live in a very social neighborhood; people are always outside, and pretty much everyone stops to talk to us, even if we don't know them. For example, on our walk this morning, we stopped to talk to this older couple that lives kitty-corner to us. Then we walked a couple more houses and stopped for a few minutes to talk to some woman who was out walking. We stopped again a block down the road because this lady's dog came up to DD to play; we ended up talking to her for a while, even though I'd never met her before.

On the one hand, we live in a nice, safe neighborhood, and I don't want DD to be afraid of people; she should be able to go out and play and talk to her neighbors. On the other hand, I don't want her to be TOO comfortable with strangers. I don't want her to go into someone's house or car without our permission because you never who could be dangerous. Thoughts? How will you teach your LO safety around strangers?
