I have my first dentist appt. in over a year tomorrow and I just started to feel something like a cavity! Not sure if it's just a coincidence or mental?
MIL told me she got 5 cavities after she had DH. My mom told me she had a rotten tooth after my sister. Eek! I'm scurred! 
What was your dental situation after pregnancy?

a chunk fell out of one of my wisdom teeth, so i had to get it extracted at 3 months PP!!!

@Mrs. High Heels: I had to get a root canal at 41 weeks pregnant! Had the work done on Saturday, gave birth on the Tuesday and the poor dentist was petrified that the baby would arrive while she was fixing the tooth!
Unfortunately my teeth were bad to start with but thankfully they haven't got too much worse!

My gums started to recede....yeah. Not sure if it was due to pregnancy or agressive brushing, the dentist seemed to think it was a combination of both. But no cavities, my hygenist was shocked!!

My mom's teeth became really weak during pregnancy. She felt like they were going to fall out. Now at 60+ she is starting to transition over to dentures. She has horrible dental problems now & she swears its cause of us kids... I hope your situation is all in your head!

My teeth were the same, but I've been going to a dentist and periodontist every 3 months before and through pregnancy, so we've kept on top of them!

My mom told me to take care of my teeth, her experience was one bad tooth per pregnancy!

UPDATE: I forgot to give my report card! Apparently I have a bad grade of gum health from their new dental hygienist, and a couple of "weak" spots, but NO cavities! yay!

@shopaholic: yay for no cavities! I have my first dental appointment pp (um yes a year after being pregnant, gross!) in a few days and I'm worried about cavities.
6 weeks after I had my first, I knew I had a cavity and got in quickly. The dentist said the cavity was from my gums swelling during pregnancy and my tooth brush couldn't reach under those swollen gums.

@HLK208: Ooh! Good luck! The dental hygienist was telling me about my poor gums and how they actually correlated with the uterus (like accupressure points), etc.

I just had my first appt this week and my teeth looked perfect! They've always been good and I've never had a cavity in my nearly 34 years of age, so I'm glad pregnancy didn't ruin it. I do need to floss more as there was a bit of calcification (aka plaque) but no big deal.
My dentist has an interesting theory - people tend to either have good teeth or good gums,and she thinks that the people with good teeth have more minerals in their saliva, which are great for the teeth, but leave one more prone to plaque build up and subsequently gingivitis. I thought it was an interesting theory.

I am sooo scared of this! I've never had a cavity and now I'm freaking out. I'm making dentist appointment tomorrow. I was good about going during pregnancy but have not been in 1 year. Ouch!

@littlek: the tooth was super sensitive. I inspect my mouth every night (weird, I know) when I floss and I could tap the tooth with my nail and feel pain. It was tiny though.
