My LO is only 3 months and hasn't started teething yet, but I'm really scared of when that happens!
What happens when your LO starts teething and they bite while breastfeeding? Is it something that you can get them to stop doing, or did you end up weaning because of it?

My LO is 8.5 months old and has 5 teeth! She's bitten me a few times, but it's something that you can teach your LO not to do.
Usually when babies bite, you take your boob away, say NO and then continue nursing. They learn really quick.
In addition to the above, I used to say OW and pinch her nose lightly.

I agree with @chopsuey119. Stop the nursing session, say "no", and give it a few minutes and offer the breast again. Repetition is key. I followed Kellymom's advice here: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/older-baby/biting.html
ETA: Also, it sucks when it happens but is survivable. I believe my response of shock and surprise was "Oh, F**k!", to which my husband laughed uproariously. Hopefully your response will be calmer.

My 7 month old has 8 teeth so I've gotten a few bites. I say no really loudly and unlatch. I've learned it happens more often when he's full and kind of just playing around.

My son got his first two at four months... he bit me a couple of times when he first got them and has maybe bit me 3 or 4 times since (8 months now and has 5 teeth). I always scream in surprise which stops him! I worried about this too but honestly it's not a big deal.

@mekarual: my LO got her first set at 5 months and the top 2 at around 7.5 months. crazy thing is, she started biting again when the top started coming in. :T

My LO doesn't have teeth yet, but my mom told me I bit her when I was an infant. She told me she flicked my check each time, and while I stopped for that feeding I would do it at the beginning of every feeding...so she stopped breast feeding.
I'm not looking forward to it that's for sure!

My LO is just now getting his first teeth ... And I can definitely feel them. So weird.

I heard that when they bite you pull them closer so their mouth opens wider? that way they won;t pull your nipple with them in case they are still biting. I'll try both methods and see what works for us, unless someone can prove one is harmful I guess.
