Cold feet about moving in general? The house in general? Or something specific on the inspection? Both times we've bought a house we didn't get cold feet about the house... BUT, the inspection is always nerve racking. I know NOTHING about home repairs so basically anything on the inspection report put me into a panic. So we have attended the inspection both times, used an inspector we trusted and flat out asked them if there was anything in it that would cause them to shy away from the purchase. We also sent the reports to a contractor friend for him to let us know if anything seemed like a red flag.

Buying a house is a huge step financially and emotionally. So if you have cold feet in general I would take a step back and try to see if you're just feeling overwhelmed by what is a scary process by definition, or if there is really a legit reason that you should re think your decision.

We looked for three years offered on a dozen homes and when we finally won by bidding $140k over asking the first word out of my mouth was fuuuuuuuuck.
Two years later I'm so glad we got this house but at first it was overwhelming. it didn't help that the house needed a complete renovation and that after searching for so long my heart stopped investing in each house so when we finally got one I was actually ambivalent towards the house we got.

In 2012 we bought a house we didnt like all that much, but it was a good buy and I was pregnant and we needed stable housing. Neither of us loved the house and in 2014 we sold it for slightly more than what we bought it for, we were so eager to leave we didnt even care about losing the money we spent on repairs. A month ago we bought a 75 year old house in a location we love and I have definitely had moments of what was I thinking but nothing like with the first one. I keep getting burned by this house (last week it was an asbestos scare), but I love it so much that I'm oblivious.

We are about to close on our first home (eek!) but I definitely had cold feet when we put in the offer. We are moving from an urban neighborhood to a subdivision and I also felt unsure about the subdivision because it's small and not districted for our preferred elementary school. Well, after looking at Zillow for the last month, I feel better, because there has literally not been anything in our budget that's zoned for our preferred elementary and we love everything else about the house. We are on a relocation timeline, though, so we didn't have forever to wait for the perfect house to come on the market. Good luck! I hope it works out for you!

We had major cold feet during escrow - it was so hard to know what issues were acceptable and what weren't. I think you need to have an amazing realtor to walk you through it. Ours was just okay. We went with the house and haven't had any issues so far! (It's been 20 months)
Emotionally though, it's taking me a LONG time to like the house. I think that's just me though, I was really sad to leave our old (rental) place even though we had no choice.

I think I get cold feet any time I have to make a purchase over $100! Seriously, though, we delayed a car purchase for a year because I got cold feet on the whole thing.

My husband is kind of the king of cold feet. We live in a tight housing market, so we bid on probably 10 places before we finally found the place we live in now. We lost most of the bids--but won one where the appraisal came in 60k low and it was never a favorite of mine (but my husband loved it), so seeing the low appraisal caused us to back out. Then we bid on another with an asking-price offer, expecting to lose (everything was going for way over asking), but we won--and then backed out for no reason other than we just felt like it wasn't right.

We finally found our place through work of mouth and bought through a for-sale-by-owner situation without it ever hitting the open market. We were glad and it worked out in the end, but there were a lot of ups and downs along the way.

I had cold feet throughout the whole process. I feel like a disappointment to my realtor the whole time, because he was SO UPBEAT the whole time, and would say things like "aren't you SO EXCITED?!!" and I would just answer "....I guess"

Now that we've been in our house for 3 months or so, I'm starting to like it a lot more, and feel more comfortable and happy there. It helps that I still cruise zillow & the like and see that we got probably the best thing we could've for the money we had. WHEW. So my feet are slowly thawing.
