This year will be my first Mother's Day! My ILs were here today and my MIL mentioned something about loving Mother's Day because she always has her boys around to do chores. Did anything change when you became a mother? Or did your day still focus on your mother/MIL?

We did the same thing last year. Together with the whole family. Only I didn't have to help plan or cook! I love it cause even though I am a Mom, I still want to spend time with my Mom and Grandma. Plus it teaches R to honor all the Moms!

Last year was my first so I wanted to do something with just the three of us on the actual day. We had lunch and spent a nice day outdoors.

In my family Mother's Day is about honoring all the moms and if possible spending time together.
For my first one last year we hung out and DH cooked for me. We live far from our families so we didn't get to see our moms.

Just because I became a mom doesn't mean DH and I no longer have a mother! They still deserve to be honored. Well, most of them,
My first I was only a few weeks pp and still under house arrest. My mom was here and I felt bad that we couldn't do anything. This year we'll likely go over to my ILs and make dinner. Well I won't help! But I'm going to request that we go out to brunch just the three of us.
Next year I want to take the kids and head to NYC to see my mom for Mother's Day. I hadn't spent a real Mother's Day celebrating her and my mom is a kick ass mom and grandmother. She deserves to be celebrated more than any mom I know!
That's what I'm going to ask for Mother's Day next year.

Last year dh ordered me flowers last minute but they never came (he paid too... I later saw the receipt) and he actually didn't mention it until night when I made some comment about it being Mother's Day. We ha already honored our mothers which we will of course keep doing! I was bummed because it was my first one but we did end up going to lunch a few days later (due to dh working.) I think being on HB honestly made me blow it up bigger than it should have been in my mind! This coming year I think LO and I will be out of town so we'll see...

I plan to do breakfast/brunch with just the 3 of us and then bringing B to do a picnic/fishing with my mom. She always wants to hike, have a picnic, and go fishing. I don't fish, but I love spending time with my mom and brothers and I think B will enjoy it, too!

I haven't really thought about it till I read this.. I usually try to visit my grandmother. It's not the easiest day for me because my mom passed away so we will see.
DH usually goes to see his mom. Not sure what we will do this year because it is out first year with DS. -
Mothering Sunday was two weeks ago here and it was also our wedding anniversary.
We did the rounds, taking flowers to my mum and MIL on the Saturday so we were free to enjoy our anniversary - and my first ever Mothers Day. That was DH's idea - sounds promising, huh? On the run up he kept saying that he hadn't booked anywhere because "everywhere will be busy" but I was convinced he was throwing me off the scent! Mothers Day came and, true to his word, he hadn't booked anything! We went to the local supermarket to do the weekly shop and we stopped in the cafe for a cup of tea and a bit of cake because E needed feeding. DH commented "we're in Tesco cafe for our wedding anniversary meal". And we were.

@Cherrybee: Ugh, my DH would do something like that. I have to drop mega-hints. Oh, who am I kidding...they're not even hints, they're flat out instructions with frequent reminders, haha!
Last Mother's Day I was in labor but didn't get to meet my LO until the day after, so this year is guaranteed to go better! I feel like the day should mainly cater to the person who is actively mothering...when I say that, I mean the one with young kids she's taking care of every day. We'll still see my mom and MIL, but if I'm being honest I expect it to be more about me, because frankly, I have much fewer relaxing Sundays than they do, haha. I'm thinking about taking my mom to the spa for a couple of hours while DH goes to lunch with L and his mom, and then spending the rest of the day at home being lazy. When the kids are older it would be fun to do a family activity that day.

LO got sick, so I got early morning snuggles with him until my parents' grandfather clock rang. DH didn't get me anything, but we did some pics with LO.

Usually just brunch or lunch with the whole family. Moms do nothing but sit on their butts outside with coffee, while husbands and kids cook, serve and clean. Perfect day in my book!
That's what I'm going to ask for Mother's Day next year.
