We stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres, which is an adults only all inclusive. It was freaking fantastic and the food was amazing.

We've stayed at several. We loved Excellence Playa Mujeres. We bought a time share kind of thing for the "Palace" resorts. There are several of them, some adults only, others for everyone. So far we've stayed at Moon Palace in Riviera Maya and Cozumel Palace. Both were very nice, good food, great staff.

We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico called Villa del Palmar, and it was wonderful! We got the deal off Living Social, and brought our two kids (they were 3 months and 29 months at the time).

Oh.my.word! It was the best holiday I have ever had!!! We stayed in the Riviera Maya, in an all inclusive resort. The food was amazing. The drinks were flowing. The weather was gorgeous (even the hurricane - we loved every minute!! We sat out on the beach, clutching mugs of tea, watching the insane spectacle!). Oh the beaches - they were beautiful!! The pyramids were amazing! We just loved every minute.

I've been a few times and always love it. AI resorts are the best--so nice to not have to walk around with a purse and just order whatever you want, whenever you want. If you're going without a LO I highly recommend staying at an adults only resort. My favorite has been the Valentin Imperial in Riviera Maya. There are always deals on Groupon or Livingsocial, too.

We went to Riveria Maya, too! Secrets SilverSands. It's definitely one of the more affordable all inclusive resorts.

It rained the first few days of our trip so we book excursions. Best idea ever and the excursions (selvatica and a trip to Tulum) were the highlight of our trip. When we got back to the resort and the sun came out, it was nice, too!
I would go back.

Am I the only one that didn't like Mexico? We went to Cabo and I have zero desire to go back. Maybe cause we aren't all-inclusive resort people

We stayed at a Dreams resort in Puerto Vallarta, it was amazing! So nice to eat and drink whatever, whenever you wanted without worrying about carrying money around. There was a private beach, all the rooms were ocean view, the weather was perfect and we had such an amazing vacation. We traveled during hurricane season, so we went to the pacific side of Mexico, since it's not hit as often. We also did a few excursions into the mountains and the surrounding city, I want to go back so badly!

A few years ago we stayed at Royal Hideaway Playacar in Playa del Carmen. It's an all inclusive adults only resort & was absolutely amazing. It was by far the most relaxing & enjoyable vacation we've taken and would definitely go back.

Another vote for the Riviera Maya. Loved the location, food, beach waiter service, so many restaurants on the resort, amazing excursions.

I've been to Cancun, Cozumel, Riviera Maya, and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico and our favorite AI hands down is Casa Velas in PV. It is wonderful: relaxing, adults only, luxurious, and the best service I've ever had on any trip. I recommend it whole-heartedly!

@blackbird: I think I already told you this in another thread (maybe?) but I'm going there in two weeks! I'll report back and tell you how it is.

We've been to Playa del Carmen (in riviera maya) 4 times, and we loooove it. We may be the the exception, but we actually prefer to stay non-AI. We stay at the same little waterfront hotel on the beach in town and it's about $130/night. The food in town is so good (and safe! It's all tourists) and cheap that the trip ends up being way cheaper and (IMO) better than staying on a resort. Either way, Mexico is beautiful.

We went to Dreams Puerta Vallarta in 2009 and loooooooooooved it. It is my fav vacation I've ever been on. There wasn't a ton to do in terms of like, events, at the resort. But in terms of awesome beach and relaxing and good food and nice rooms, loved it.

On the flip side, my parents just got back from Secrets Aura Cozumel and did not like it. Said the resort was super disappointing.

I think the big thing is reading lots of reviews so your resort is nice.

I'm hoping to take DS to Mexico for our Christmas vaca (since I've never been myself) this year so this is a great thread! Looks like I need to check out Riviera Maya!!

We went to the Excellence Riviera Maya for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. That was over 6 years ago, but my younger brother went about 2 years ago to the same place for his honeymoon and talked it up even more than I did. Seriously an amazing resort, and an amazing place to be.

I have only been to 1 all inclusive and I thought I would hate it, but I ended up enjoying it.

We went to Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta. I don't know that I would recommend this specific resort (it was nice, but didn't blow me away), but the all inclusive type of vacation ended up being fun particularly because we had a group of friends there.
