We use triple paste; I've found it to be the most effective treatment. I slather it on really really thick, like frosting thick, and put aquaphor on top.

Triple paste, and like @hilsy85 said, apply lots to create a barrier.

@Pepper: triple paste is the brand, you can find it at any drugstore (duane reade, rite aid, cvs, etc).

We struggled with a persistent yeast rash for 8 weeks, it was HORRIBLE! I actually cried about it a few times. What I think solved it for us was using cloth wipes with water, tons of naked time, used a blow dryer from far away on the cold setting (rec'd by doc), treated with Canesten topical cream (skip this unless its diagnosed by doc that its yeast) and gobbed on Aquaphor healing ointment. So basically like @hilsy85: said!

Now, I've learned that LO is very sensitive. I still only use cloth wipes with water. Coconut oil at every change, if I see something looking a little fishy I use Earth Mama Baby Angel Bottom Balm. Since we CD if something stronger is needed I reach for the Aquaphor and put a liner between. Hope it clears up asap!

This was us in the beginning, too. HBers recommended Triple Paste, and it worked well for us. But he still got rashy a lot, until he stopped pooping so much. I can't remember when that happened. Maybe around 2 months? We also only use water to wipe and gave him lots of open air time.

I use Triple Paste on H's bum when she goes to bed at night and on days where she has an extra poop here and there, and in 7.5 months she has never had a diaper rash so I swear by that stuff!

Oh I forgot about putting baking soda in his baths!

@Pepper: yay! I triple paste. I generally only use it if he looks red, and I use aquaphor at all other times. But I think you CAN use it preventatively.

@Pepper: That's what we do too.

We had the same issues until we stopped using wipes (we restarted when he was a bit older). I used damp Viva paper towels and that did the trick. Vaseline, Desitin, aquafor, any of those creams work well as long as you use a lot of it! good luck!

we wash with warm water under the sink, no wash cloth because it rub the rash area. Apply aquaphor liberally and change diapers every 2 hours or when soiled.
