DH and I are hosting for the 3rd year :). We will have DH's parents, my parents, and my dad's side of the family (mom's is in Korea) all over to the house for a huge feast. I'm so excited to decorate and cook It's a distraction as we've just begun our TTC journey.

DH and I are hosting for the first time! We're having DH's parents and grandparents, sister and family, and my parents and brother - 15 total. I'm scared, haha.

I wish we had family around but since it's only going to be me, DH, and LO we are going out to eat at a local place that is a former castle - now turned country club. I have always wanted to go there so I am looking forward to it.

How exciting!
I was planning on going to my grandmother's to cook so she wouldn't have to. There's usually 10-12 of us. Anyways, that plan was shot down when I found out I'm working Thanksgiving night.
So, I'm going to be sleeping most of the day then heading off to work. Mr. Bear says he'll cook us a mini-Thanksgiving dinner though. So sweet.

It looks like we will get to have a T-giving with just us two. I don't think I'll have enough time off to go down to LA the way we normally do, and my mom is working, so just the two of us. I am encouraging Hubs to go down to LA without me, if he wants.

My parents are coming in for Thanksgiving and...they're going to find out that we're expecting. I'll be 11 weeks, 5 days on Thanksgiving Day. I cannot wait to see the looks on their faces.

DH and I are hosting for the second year. Last year was a nightmare, so I hope to improve upon several mistakes.

We'll be going to my parents where I will help my mom cook for her side of the family. We'll try to stop by my in-laws since my husbands grandparents will all be in town but since we've been with them the last 4 years on Thanksgiving I insisted on eating with my family this year.

@JBHOPS wow. I can't believe you haven't told your parents yet! I have zero self control and actually told my mom I was pregnant a few minutes after we found out.
Your parents are going to be SO excited!!! Are you going to tell them in a creative way?

@chopsuey119 - my Mom is a blabbermouth so if she knew? Everyone would know within 5 minutes. Seriously. It's been hard but at the same time, my brother's wife recently had their baby so she's been busy with that.
I bought a Boyd's Bear stuffed stork that has a "Special Delivery" wrap dangling from his beak with a baby teddy bear in it. I made a sign with some chipboard with my due date on it and attached it to his neck. I put him in a bag and it will be their pre-Thanksgiving dinner gift.

@jbhops-- super cute! i know they'll love it!
Hubs and I are hosting for the first time this year-- ACK! But luckily there will only be 6 of us. I'll be around 8 weeks by that time; hope I don't get nauseous from the raw turkey!

I'll be trying not to cry! We thought we were going to be able to join my whole extended family (as is tradition) in San Antonio, but the airfare from the UK is just too expensive.
So it's just me and hubs... sadness....

@jbhops That's such a cute idea! They'll eat that up!
This will be first first year my DH and I get to spend Thanksgiving together! My family and his family live in different states so we've always split up. Now that we're married, we need to be a united front, especially during the holidays. I'm sad to not be able to see my family this Thanksgiving, but I'll be happy to spend the day with my husband and his family, and then on Christmas we'll go to my family's.

@hola abejita - someone just tweeted this one. I want to eat it up! http://shewearsmanyhats.com/2011/11/mayonnaise-roasted-turkey/
I'm normally a plain jane turkey girl - salt, pepper, butter and olive oil. Maybe some herbs if I have some fresh ones around. Usually turns out pretty good.

@Jbhops - Thanks for linking that! That turkey looks DELICIOUS and I might have to try that!

@Jbhops - I LOVE that you're sharing the news on Thanksgiving Day! I was hoping to keep quiet until then (I'll be 10 weeks on turkey day) but no such luck.
I'm so excited to be flying home to the States for Thanksgiving this year! Having lived abroad for most of the past seven years, I have missed way too many Thanksgivings. DH has a crazy work schedule right now so I figured this was the perfect time for me to go home and spend some time with my family. I can't wait!!! I'm just nervous about the 24 hours of flying at 10 weeks pregnant and then again at 12 weeks - that's not going to be fun.

This yrar will be small and I'm ok with that, gives my Mom and I more time to pour over the Black Friday ads
It'll just be my parents, my inlaws, us and our 2 Lo's

Spending the night at my parents (even though we live in the same town), waking up early to run the turkey trot, having a huge brunch with about 60 people, then heading over to hubby's parents for the more traditional thanksgiving dinner.
In short we'll be doing a lot of eating.

We are hosting for the first time. We live quite far from our families so we usually are alone for Thanksgiving. This year our friends are coming to stay the entire week with us. We've been planning the menu with them for a month now. I picked up the turkey yesterday.

@hola abejita: the key to a GREAT turkey is brining it! check out foodnetwork.com for measurements.
it's typically water, brown sugar, salt, freshed squeezed oranges. you submerge the turkey in the water bath over night and end up with a super moist and flavorful turkey!
have you tried costco's rotisserie chickens? it's the brine that makes them super good!
