I'm hosting for the first time, but in past years I've made all the sides and desserts and the in-laws have made the turkey. I had thought my grandparents and my father and his wife were coming, but found out it's just going to be 6 of us plus the kids and am a little disappointed but in the end it's probably better.
Le menu:
Cider-glazed turkey
Sweet corn pudding
Mirleton shrimp casserole
Oyster dressing
Mashed potatoes
Green beans
Salad
Onion rolls
Cranberry chocolate cheesecake
Apple pie

Because we are insane, we have three meals on Thanksgiving. DH and I do the majority of the cooking for my family's brunch (but luckily it's not at our house so I don't have to clean!), then we'll make between 6-8 pies/pumpkin rolls for both sides of his family.

@swurlygurl: @MsLipGloss: Haha! Ok:
-Boil eggs as normal
-Combine egg yolk, mayo, mustard, and shredded cheddar cheese to taste
-Either add crispy bacon on top like a garnish, or mix in with the egg mixture and spoon into eggs!
That's it! Super easy, and amazingly delicious.

We host both sets of parents and siblings...so it's just 8 adults and 2 kids...sometimes neighbors or uncles/aunts without plans will join us but that varies year to year.
My parents bring the brined turkey to roast
My in-laws bring green bean casserole and dessert
My SIL brings salad and her son's dairy free food
My brother brings dinner rolls and dessert
We do everything else - stuffing, potatoes, corn casserole, gravy

We usually go to my parents and DH and I make the potatoes (sometimes both mashed and sweet, sometimes just mashed). I also bring the annual weirdo vegetarian dish no one touches (last year's was quinoa with cranberries), and a dessert (also varies each year, last year was a chocolate cake, year before was cherry pie).
I actually really like making stuff and "contributing" - my sister never does, she just shows up to eat!
DH's parents live in our state now, so I'm not sure what the plan is this year. Also, I rarely cook or bake anymore with LO in the picture!

@cmomma17: Um, I would KILL that quinoa with cranberries. People who don't eat those vegetarian are weird, ha ha!
We're bringing the sweet potatoes.

@littlebug: It was sooooo good! I usually call it "Christmas quinoa" - it's so pretty! Cranberries, almonds, and some green stuff (I forget what, lol), plus a yummy dressing. My mom ate like a tablespoon of it and no one else touched it!

@cmomma17: That sounds really good, and moderately healthy! Maybe I'll make that as my 'extra' dish.

We are hosting for again this year. I am putting my parents to work though making a good amount of the food Kat my housel. As part of hosting I have to come up with an after dinner activity everyone will want to do.

My main responsibility will be the 10 day old baby :D. If I feel up to it I'll do the cranberry sauce which basically amount to pouring 2 things in a saucepan and stirring.
Technically we're hosting, but my parents are doing all the work :).

We host every year. Sometimes it's bigger, sometimes just my husband, me, my MIL (and of course DD). Last year I was hugely pregnant and took it easy - this year I am excited to go all out! Because there are only three of us, we keep it simple: Turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes, salad, pumpkin mousse pie. My MIL brings breakfast.

@swurlygurl: that's the other problem, I try to make something healthy every year! my family is not a fan! lol

I make all of the breads. Dinner rolls (regular and sweet potato), muffins and sweeter breads for breakfast, white bread for sandwiches the next day.
I'll also probably make a pie, and maybe a veggie side. I've been emailing D's aunt about the menu (she always hosts) and we're trying to figure out what it's missing.
I'll also just be a spare set of hands for her. Last year I went overboard with baking, this year I'm trying to not be as ambitious and just be available to help.

We host, it's an open door policy for both sides. Both our parents are divorced and we let them know YEARS ago that if they want to see us they'll come to our house and put their differences aside. We we're tired of driving all over the place and have hosted forever. This is our 8th year. It's a different group every year
I always delegate one person to each of the following: wine, beer, rolls, dessert. I do the rest and you better stay the hell outta the kitchen until it's time for dishes

Yams! Everyone loves them, even BIL and FIL who normally hate yams. Only the hubs refuses to eat them... grrr.

My grandma is hosting and I've been asked to bring the mashed potatoes! Fine by me. Last year I did the yams & green beans with a 1 month old and it stressed me out. lol

@babyjmama: Open door AND wine? I'm comin' over! Haha
I love hearing about Thanksgiving plans - makes it feel so Autumn-ish! Even though Winter is trying to attack... >:-(

I bring broccoli/cauliflower and a pie. Actually I might be hosting this year. My family likes to wait until the very last second to decide.

Thanksgiving is my mom's holiday to host. I used to be in charge of a variety of appetizers, side dishes, and desserts.
This year my responsibility is to bring my newborn over to her Grammy's house.

It's just my parents & hubs & I this year, so nothing too extravagant. I need to sit down with my mom and figure out a menu. I'll let her do the turkey & stuffing, because I don't know how, ha....she's always done it! I'll probably take on a sweet potato dish, soup, and a dessert. I used to always make pies, and this year my dad finally got the nerve to tell me he's not a pie guy, so....I dunno. Maybe some sort of bread pudding? Cheesecake? Like I said, I need to talk it over with my mom, but my guess is that she'll do 3-4 dishes and I'll do 3-4 dishes...we just need to figure out what they are, lol.
