Last night I was on the phone with DHs grandma, and asked her if she saw the royal baby. She said "I did.. but I don't know what they could have been thinking! that baby needs a hat!!! sometimes when baby's are born they are so cold they need a hat and an incubator. I can't believe she didn't have a hat on him!!"
It was so funny because I know there's been threads on here about older people always thinking baby's are cold.. and she prooved that to be true!! haha

Oh lord, does she not realize it's 80 degrees here?! hahaha. I was sitting in my house, sweating, wondering how miserable that kid was in that blanket!

Haha. So true. Wagon Jr. was born on the coldest day of the year so he had a hat on his head pretty much 24/7. I bought all these hats for LMW but she was born on the hottest day of the year... totally didn't occur to me that she would not need them!

It's not just old people!
At W's most recent well baby check up there was a woman there with her 2 day old girl. She was wearing pants, long sleeves, a hat, a minky blanket and there was one of those car seat covers over her.
It was 113 degrees that day. That poor baby was SWEATING.
The corpsman (who is like a tech in a navy hospital and just takes the vitals) was going back and forth with the mom that it was too hot for so much clothes and she kept saying, "she's a NEWBORN! they NEED all this." Until a doctor came in and explained that over heating is just as dangerous as getting too cold.
It was insane.

this is how my mom is!! when she sees babies out, she's always like 'he/she needs a hat!, I can't believe they don't have a hat on that baby!' I will admit though, sometimes I see a baby and think 'wow, can't believe they don't have a hat on that kid' haha

Haha! I was one of the people who started a thread on it. I can't leave my MIL alone with C because she will put him in footed pjs, swaddle him, and take him outside. The heat index is an average of 100 degrees here every day during the summer!!!

Haha my mother said the exact same thing when we spoke about the royal baby! It's like her main thing - she's big into babies wearing hats! I had to assure her Lady M would be ok in a onesie and sleep sack while sleeping as she wanted her to wear yet another layer!!

Oh lord, my MIL was always putting layer after layer on LO when she was little. She was born during a heat wave and it was in the 90s all summer!

Had my first experience today with someone yelling after me on the streets of NYC: "hey mom, put a hat on that baby!" When ignored, he continued to talk loudly to his companions about what a bad mom I was. It took all my willpower not to turn around and tell him that unless he planned to come over and deal with night feedings, diapers, laundry, and pay for her college and a wedding, he could shove it. There is no way that my kiddo was cold or needed a hat. She had on long sleeves, pants, socks, and was in the beco all snuggled up to me. We were both sweating when we got home. Sigh.
