I'm guessing you're going in the summer? We visited there in the fall and it was gorgeous. I'd say try to just enjoy the outdoors up there. Hiking, boating, etc. It's such a beautiful place!

The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge is great - kind of old fashioned, very New England. We stayed at Porches in North Adams last year and it was really fun. It's a little more modern. It's right across the street from Mass MoCA, a great contemporary art museum. If you are going in the summer, you should try to see a concert at Tanglewood. It's a beautiful outdoor theater and it's the summer home for the Boston Pops.

@pointybird: I second Tanglewood!! I would go to a specialty foods store and pack a really beautiful, gourmet picnic dinner and a blanket and have a picnic while listening to the music! So romantic.

@pointybird: seriously! One of our friends proposed there and it looked so romantic. He bought one of those Williams Sonoma picnic baskets with the real china and stemware and everything and had a gourmet meal all packed up.
