I try to keep the number of pieces down vs. concern of how much per piece. Quality over quantity for me.

I try to spend as little as possible. We get tons of hand-me-downs from my sister so normally I just have to buy a few items like socks, onsies, and sleepers. She had lots of very nice things so we don't even need to buy special outfits. I usually only spend a few dollars on each item that I buy.

I buy used as much as I can--i'll go to big consignment sales and stock up. But then I don't feel bad if i spend $60 on headbands or buy a nicer $30 dress that feels overpriced.

I found that I need a good stock during the week so I don't have to worry about laundry, so that means at least 7 tops and 7 bottoms.
The main issue I have is that the stuff looks worn out so fast, my son comes home with mystery stains every day from daycare, and I am not that great at laundry, so stuff def. doesn't get returned to the wear pile as often as it used to. I am a big fan of Gymboree these days, the quality is great plus they are having a 40% off sale, so I got things for $4, brand new.

I try to only buy things on sale- baby Gap, Osh Kosh, Old Navy, Target, sometimes on Zulily. I don't like cutesy pink girly stuff, so it's harder for me to shop at consignment sales. I recently bought DD a baby Gap dress for $25- but it's hard for me to justify anything over than that. We do get a lot of hand me downs, which is great- but honestly, I find I dress her in the same things over and over, and a lot of clothes just don't get worn. And luckily if I find something I love that's a bit more money, my mom will buy for her. But DD would be happy wearing leggings and her one Yo Gabba Gabba shirt every day.

Most of DD's stuff comes from Target, Old Navy, H&M, Baby Gap, Carters, Osh Gosh, and some Kohl's. Play stuff/daycare clothing I never spend more than $7-10 because she plays rough. Nicer stuff I will spend more & I shop sales a lot.

@mrskc: It is, thank you! That's my $22 outfit right there that I will easily be able to sell for close to what I paid for it. So at the end of the day that outfit will cost me maybe $5.

I don't think I've paid more than $7 for a piece of clothing...and anything I've bought at full price has been with reward money from Old Navy. I haven't bought a ton myself yet, but whenever I see something cute on clearance I look for the appropriate size for that season and get it.

You're all making me wish we had decent consignment stores around here! Everything here is in really bad shape and isn't even worth digging through.

@fussygal, one of them is called Just Between Friends, if you have that near you

So far its been mostly hand me downs. If I have to shop I will go to a consignment store. I always sell things there for store credit so I don't have to spend any actual money.

I like to spend no more than $4.00 on leggings or onesies. No more than $8.00 for a sleeper, $10.00 for pants/tops, maybe $12.00 if it's a sweater. No more than $25 for a dress, maybe $30.00 if it's REALLY cute.
