Have you heard they story behind this book? It made me view it completely differently and now I REALLY can't read it without crying. Short version: The book started as a song to the two stillborn babies he and his wife had.

I've never read this book, but might just have to get it. Just reading the short lyrics made me teary... so sad!!

Oh geez , now I love it more. I read it to my LO almost every night and she loves it. DH thinks it's creepy though. Gonna tell him about it so he can't say that anymore!

Omg. How devastating. I can't read this book to my LOs...I've tried and it just ends with tears all over their poor little heads lol. I made the mistake of mentioning that fact to my MIL in front of my college aged BIL. Now out of nowhere he'll start reciting it to try to make me cry!

@MrsH: Right??? And then he'll say..."Can you imagine Elliot coming to rock you when you're old- back and forth and back and forth..." and on and on. He thinks he's soooo hilarious. He also tries to make me yawn all the time- I'm so lucky

I read it once and thought it was sweet until she crawled into her grown son's apartment to cuddle him..
Now that I have a son, I get it though

@Mrs. High Heels: there's this part where the (old) mother uses a ladder to crawl up into her grown son's room and she rocks him while he's sleeping 
the picture is pretty funny - this old lady rocking this huge man.

That's my favorite Robert Munsch book and this makes me like it more-- though I got teary reading it before I even had a LO or read the story behind it. Come to think of it I don't think I have this one-- have to fix that.

Ugh. I always avoided reading this one because I found it disturbing. Now, I'll probably avoid reading it so I won't cry! Guess LO is stuck with Paper Bag Princess...
