@TemperanceBrennan: I know a lot of people think that they don't actually get married and/or they get divorced down the line. As much as I think they're an odd pair I hope that's not the case!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Seriously, you can skip the episode. Marshall slaps Barney, the end. And I think the slap itself is at the very end, if you want to see it. The rest of the episode is rubbish.
@TemperanceBrennan: I've been shamelessly shipping Barney and Robin for years, so I'll be super disappointed if Future Ted marries Robin, for whatever reason.

You think they get married because there was a flash forward of them .... at the hotel drinking too much and a baby waking them up but oops it was the hotel staff baby and they were in the wrong room. But maybe they were just friends... because... I didn't check if they were wearing rings which is totally something HIMYM writers would do to us!I think the show where you find out robin can't have kids or that she says she hates kids... there was a flash of kids pictures that ted's kid drew of them and "aunt" robin and only "aunt" robin... where's barney?!

This is immediately what I thought last night after that scene. How sad!! DH got teary eyed (he is very sentimental). But, it's also a really beautiful way to make a comedy deeper!

If that's how it ends I'll never watch another show with the creators names attached. Not only is it a deeply unsatisfying and morbidly unnecessary ending for the viewer, but it puts the ENTIRE SERIES in a sick, terrible light. Why, oh why, would he want to tell his children about all the other women he dated and all the "sandwiches" he ate, and all the women uncle Barney banged when their mother is DEAD?!?!
I'd never be able to watch a rerun again.

@JoyfulKiwi: You can definitely do what you want... BUT(!) I think tv shows shouldn't be taken too seriously.
HIMYM is just suppose to be an interesting story.
As I mentioned I don't like Robin but I still like the show in general because it's funny and entertaining and I want to know what happens next.

I saw an article but cant for the life of me remember where..... where "Robin" says the finale is heartbreaking and sad..... WTH????
I kept thinking maybe she is left at the alter but maybe it makes more sense that something happens to the "mother"
I did think that was a weird comment and how Ted had tears in his eyes......

@fussygal: I don't think so. I think the very first time they introduce the Robin/Ted relationship, and you're thinking she may be the mom, voiceover Bob Saget specifically says "and that's how I met your Aunt Robin". I'd assume if they were together she wouldn't be their aunt?

@Sapphiresun: Personally, I don't think it's how things go down. Just pointing it out as one theory I've read about that quite a few people seemed to be on board with. There are some pretty "out there" theories though.

We just watched the DVR'd finale - overall a pretty good episode and finale though.
